Big Muddy -weather

So far about an hour ago- Glasgow was reporting 3.8" of wet snow with .35" of water equivalent... Winds are now blowing 22-30 mph out of the NW now and we're getting some good drifts in areas... With the switching winds the poor calves are having a tough time finding a hole to hide in...

Snow quit about 3PM- and the winds came up-- gusts clocked over 50 mph...Wind down to 30 mph now... Hard to tell how much snow- as in areas its brown- blown clear-- and in others there 3-4 foot drifts....Weather bureau says we got 5.3 inches of "wet" snow which accounted for .48 inch of moisture....Definitely a nasty way to get moisture...

Looks like ND is getting the blunt of it now...

The Outlook weather station says gusts to 34mph.
I just came in from putting dogs in barn and plugging in. The pay loaded got plugged in as well as the feeding tractor.Going to be some drifts to move in the morning. At least our road should clear off.

I was guessing at 6 inches before the wind. :o

I was checking some weather link stations and Greg Wirtz at Outlook had gusts to34mph.. Ed Smith at Dagmar had gusts to37 mph and Tioga ND had gusts to 8 mph. Wonder where the wind went? :?

Found it.

gusts to 45 mph around Alexander. :x

Yeah it was plumb nasty out there for awhile.... The place south of us had gusts at 51 mph... It would just suck your breath away being in it- and visibility at time was 40-50 yards...The bad thing was with the wind switching from the East to the NW I found a couple dummy calves getting buried in the snow- so I was grabbing them up and throwing them under some calf shelters...
Wind went down enough that I was able to get some straw bales rolled out behind some windbreaks this evening- but the temp is down to 8, wind is 25 gusting to 32 and the chill factor is -12....

We had a 50 mph wind gust out of the south, just a few minutes past 11 o'clock this morning. At six o'clock this evening the wind dropped to practically nothing, and the thermometer read 52 degrees. In the next two hours, the temperature dropped twenty degrees, the wind switched to the north, and there was a mini-blizzard of snow in the air. Now at nine o'clock, the temperature reads 30 degrees, the wind is out of the northwest at 16 mph, and there is still some light snow in the air. New calves will have to go into the barn tonight.

Yeah Soap- I don't know how far south this will drop but after the wind went down this morning it dropped to 8 Below... Neighbor on the hill said his thermometer in his pickup read 12 Below...
I pretty much spent the night driving thru the cows- so I could get any new calves in the barn or hot box...
Bad thing here is they are saying no warm up for about a week- and possibly another snowstorm Thursday...

We really didn't need the moisture and I would have gladly given it to areas that do...
