where? she weigh 2200 lbs.? :?

Glasgow Stockyards-- not positive on the exact weight but it was in the 1600 range (she was $.65 short of $1000) ... Saw several 1600 lbers sell around the $980 mark.... Big Cull cow prices were in the $60 range..

Not much for bred cows/heifers- mostly junk or put together bunchs... Tops were $1375-- but several of the short termers were pounded out because the pound price was higher than what they could get for an opening bid.... But few (if any) with a calf in them went to slaughter...

Same thing here this week, cow's in short supply, so they're throwing a little cash on the table to bring them out of the woodwork. 60 cents + for the better ones that grade well.

Thanks for your concern gcreekrch, but I found out that most all checks weigh the same no matter what the amount is for. If they had paid me in dollar bills that would be different though. :D :D :D

It was a great sale, a record breaker in fact for me. The steers were 50 pounds lighter than last year but I've heard that from about everyone that their calves were lighter than normal. 623# @ $147.85 and 561# @ $156.00. I would take that every time. I've been thinking about things since the sale and will put my thoughts in a different thread.

Did you sell at Valentine?

If so, I watched them sell on Cattle USA. There was a load of steers that weighed 623 at that price. They were dam good cattle. :D I must have hopped to Mobridge SD right after they sold.

Good on you for getting well paid for a years work.

Yes, I do sell at Valentine and that was them. Thanks for the compliment. Have you sold yet?

Yes, I explained our (mis)marketing strategy for 2010 in your thread.

Still have replacement hfrs to keep and 30 odds and sods that will sell this spring. They will let us know how far we were out in our decision.

A friend of mine sold his few tailend steers the same day I did and they brought about the same dollars as the load of frontend steers he sold on the video sale last August for December delivery. He's sworn off video sales for life but he just picked a bad year to try the video for the first time.
