Big Wicked Spooky Monster!

thought's will be of you and your's today, stay safe and keep a stiff upper lip, thing's can only get better, they certainly can't get much worse

Holy smoke H, be careful. Remember your important to your family so don't put yourself at risk to save a few cows. Having said that, go get those cows home.

Take care 'H, our thoughts are with you. I'm kinda speechless, so I'll wait anxiously for your update this evening.

Just saw your post H... been busy with haying and fire calls, including a horrible house fire on Monday, and haven't checked in here on Ranchers'. You & yours and all those suffering from the ills of drought will in be my prayers.

Stay safe.

Well, ya'll must have plenty of pull with the man upstairs because today was a much better day. After a sleepless night, we got after it again. The BLM really got after it and kept it from jumping the road in the bottom of the canyon. Rick found 28 pair standing in a ten acre unburnt patch that was completely surrounded by scortched earth! The cows were fine! :D We brought out a good bunch today including some from Ensign Ranch that must of come over the mountain ahead of the flames. Those guys were plumb happy to get the call we had thier cattle in the corral. Rick is still out 21 pair but we didnt find a dead cow today and we looked pretty hard. Hopefully they have went east into hell's hole and are fine. The fire looks really good tonight and we may have passed the tough spot. I am tired but relived and pretty happy tonight. :D

Ya'll are fine folks and we appreciate the wonderful words of encouragement. Thanks for letting me lean on ya even a long ways away! Thanks for your compassion, your friendship and your humor. Be blessed in all ya do and know one guy here on the desert thinks the world of his ranchers pals! :D :D I plan to get back on the mountain tomorrow and will take some more pics of how it all turns out. Today i had it with me, but we worked too hard chasing cows down to use it. Thanks again!

I am so happy for you that things are looking up. This will make a good poem one of these days when you have time to look at it from the other side. Stay safe!!

H, you have risked life & limb (I mean ya' got on one of them motorcycles!) to help family and friends save cattle. Have you got your bunch in safe quarters? This has been a rough summer, and winter is not looking that good from here. I feel like: "Trust & Obey, OK, Lord, I got it, now send the rain!" On a serious note, I hope to learn all that He is trying to teach me so that this disaster is not a loss. Some things are hard for me to wrap my head around. There was a thought on a recent Good Sunday Mornin' to the effect, just because the Lord isn't changing the situation doesn't mean he isn't working in it. Hang in there........

Thanks for the encouragement Shortgrass. I hope your moisture comes and in bunches. My cows are still up on the mountain right now. I have been too busy helping to do anything with them. But i will probably bring them home pretty soon, even with the fire contained as they only have dry crested wheat and tall wheat grass at this point. Pretty low nutritional value for lactating cows and growing calves. Rain is always welcome but won't do much except maybe a little fall green up at this point. Thanks again! :D
