Bill Clinton Era Coverup?

17 years ago. Many were skeptical when this crash was being investigated. Too many saw rockets going towards plane that night.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago.
However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down.
Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded and crashed off the coast of nearby East Moriches, Long Island, killing everyone on the plane.
“..This team of investigators who actually handled the wreckage and victims’ bodies, prove that the officially proposed fuel-air explosion did not cause the crash,” reads a statement by the producers of the film, which will debut on cable network EPIX next month. “They also provide radar and forensic evidence proving that one or more ordinance explosions outside the aircraft caused the crash.” However, the statement said they did not speculate about the source or sources of any ordinance explosions.
The whistleblower team, which includes investigators-at the time-from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), TWA, and the Airline Pilots Association, have since retired from their positions. They claim that at the time, they were placed under a gag order by the NTSB, which they charged falsified the official conclusion of the cause of the crash. They indicated they would elaborate more in a Wednesday media briefing.
The NTSB report, the culmination of a four-year investigation, suggested the cause of the explosion was due to an explosion in the gas tank caused by a short circuit.
With conspiracy theories immediately swirling around the crash – one being that it was caused by a terrorist missile strike -- the FBI conducted a 16-month investigation and concluded that there was no evidence to indicate that any criminal act occurred.

I read this interesting article..

He stated he had proof that TWA 800 was shot down by friendly fire, and the incident was being covered up by the government.

It's important to remember that in normal operation, Air Traffic Control radar does not detect aircraft, but aircraft transponders. A transponder is a special type of radio in the aircraft that listens for a radar beam. When it detects a radar beam, it immediately sends out a coded signal with an identifying number (assigned by the Air Traffic Controller on the ground) as well as the altitude of the aircraft. The Air Traffic Control radar will then use this extra data to display useful information to the Air Traffic Controller.

All air traffic operating inside the Terminal Control Area is required to have an operating radar transponder. Unless the Air Traffic Controller displays the skin paint return, any air traffic without a transponder will not be seen.

there is more to this story... ... at.

three Navy ships were closer to the TWA explosion than the USS Normandy

here is another interesting article..
Federal Aviation Administration radar captured four unidentified tracks "consistent with the speed of a boat" within three to six miles of the jumbo jet's course at the time of its midair breakup. One vessel, less than three miles from the crash scene, was headed southeast away from the area at 30 knots (34.5 mph) and another was headed toward the plane's path at 20 knots (23 mph). None of the ships has been publicly identified. Navy cruisers, frigates and destroyers can operate at speeds above 30 knots.

http://www.angelfire.com/hi/TWA800/trmysteryships.html

if I remember right.. they identified the three ships...

.they were navy ships on classified maneuvers."

radar at McArthur Airport on Long Island had recorded a surface target three nautical miles to the south of the crash site that headed out to sea doing 30 knots when TWA 800 exploded. Donaldson said that for it to be recorded by the radar, its superstructure had to rise 60 feet above the water. Its size and speed rules out a merchant ship. Racing out to sea instead of heading for the accident site to see if it could be of help is highly suspicious. This was only one of four surface targets recorded on radar near the crash site that have not been identified. Bill Donaldson said he had tried hard to get the FBI and the NTSB to tell him what ships these were, but they claim they don't know."

well anyone knows subs are fast,.. but certainly are not that tall.. and a recently surfaced sub would not have a long surface track...

and it wasn't the merchant ships leaving Hudson..

but if it was classified then,.. it is still classified now... so anything else would just be wild speculation...

I saw this,.. and the guys catches something interesting about the radar sweep..
That means that the kill-missile could have "occurred"
within one radar sweep and thus could have NEVER been
seen on radar.
http://www.spiritoftruth.org/twanews.htm

if it was a missile... and it wasn't seen on radar... then how would they know it was a missile... seems like the logical question... especially when they are using a merging blip on a radar sweep to back that rationale?

then he goes on to confuse a drone with a cruise missile..
there is a guy who says it was the USS Wyoming, another who says it was the USS Albuquerque, which was in port.. maybe it was the USS Pittsburgh,.. they look the same..

this is why it was never "solved" and will always be a conspiracy theory..

people keep looking for a missile or a sub when it doesn't have the correct characteristics of a missile or a sub..

I am sure there is a logical answer to all the different accounts..

heck I might have read it, or copied and pasted it and missed it in all the misguided claims on this sad tragedy, that took 230 lives..
