Bird flu found in swans in Italy, Greece and Bulgaria

H5N1 has killed birds in 20 countries and infected at least 166 people, killing 88 of them.
Okay, so is this strain not terribly contagious from one human to the next, but could it mutate to become more so? And is the 53% mortality rate something that could be improved upon with better care for the infected individual, not that I'm sure what the options are for treating this virus?
