Now the Uppity women can unite and tell us why white is so much better!! This has no reference to colour just the fact doesn't matter whats said some ALWAYS say the opposite!

Actually, if you'll check again, you'll note the uppity women didn't say white (or anything else was better).

The point was simply made that both should deserve equal respect and consideration.

In fact...the word " uppity" was used mainly in the South to refer to slaves whom dared think they were " human" or stepped above their " place". NOw that we're clear on the verbage!

Yes...Mrs Greg...YOU GOT IT!!! Differences make the world go around. It keeps things in balance...the old Ying-Yang deal. If everyone was on the same side of the " fence" now how DULL would life be????

R2 was right in one observation....us so called " liberals" we don't blast and call names to the so called " conservatives".....yet the so called
"conservatives" loose invectives on the " liberals" to unnecessay levels.

I'm glad that someone disagrees...tells me that they are using the ol cerebral cortex for something other than a hat rack!!!

What about all of the name-calling that disagreeable does? You'll have to admit that she's one of you liberals, correct? Don't you consider her name-calling to be taken to an unnecessary level?

Liberals are the most intolerant people I have ever lived around!
They are only tolerant of what they believe in!
When I was a kid I actually started going to church just to pi$$ off liberals!
It used to drive my hippie generation parents nuts that I was clean cut!
My grade 9 civics teacher was a draft dodging liberal from Boston MASS.
To pass his class you only had to be a liberal.
He used to throw my papers in the trash because he did not agree with my idealology and he flunked me because I was a conservative.

WHAT?????????? a teacher can be liberal???? I thought that teacher union was just about helping the kids!!! now I am just shocked!

the teachers having political pull is primarily what is wrong with our education system. if you want to teach kids, then do it, but to be a teacher and use your union to lobby for more cash is bunk in my opinion.

if a school needs more money, I am ok with higher taxes as long as the money is used right. like hiring more conservative teachers!

I do not know why you all draw political lines in the sand....Is an open mind to much to ask?I suspect both the dem's and rep's have good and bad folks within each's party...You guys dig such deep political bunkers that no new ideas can even be considered with out the tagging of a name.....The mayor of new york would make a great candidate for pres...but he is a rep that is to close to dem's way of so called thinking.....and that they say is a concern..WHY????.... Maybe it is time to get good people in office, not just a party name......

Yes I will agree MOST teachers are liberal...BUT there are MORE than you know who are VERY conservitive. I am one of them.
My Teachers union works to get ME not the school more money.
Lets see if you can support your family on my pay.
I get paid for 10 months. $9.90 an hour NO overtime EVER no matter how much I do at home. That is $792 for 2 weeks. Out of that I pay 40% in taxes. 10% to retirement. $295 for insurance for my children.which brings me to $248 for 2 weeks.
Can you pay for gas on that? Can you feed 2 teenage children?
I also have to pay for my own professional development which is required.
All I want is a livable wage. Why do you think so many Good Teachers leave?

You have reached a new low X. That was a good post that nonothing wrote. And you guys accuse me of being elitist. Geez.
A new low? Well, gee whiz. I guess a low to you would be considered a high to me, so thank you very much.

As for his post being 'good'...his post might have started out being good. It changed to 'STUPID' when he said that Bloomburg would make a good President. That worthless prick wouldn't even make good roadkill.

As I said, you are hung over or something this morning. Keep the language a bit less colorful please.
I don't care what you 'said'. That just proves how shallow you are. Your Sunday mornings must revolve around hangovers? On the other hand, I don't even consume beverages of grain alcohol.

And until someone makes you the hall monitor, I'll use any language that I please. If you can't tolerate the use of the word 'prick', you sure wouldn't have liked the more accurate and descriptive version that first came to mind.

believe me, I value good teachers as if they were gold, I even thought of going into ag ed, but decided on this goldmine of farming instead!

I see too often how teachers start with little ways of shaping the young kids into beginner liberals.....I just think it is the wrong place to push an agenda.

as far as living on your wage, we are a family of 6 living on 30 k a year, so don't think you are the only one barely making it. I know far too well how tight it is, and there are a lot of things I just do with out, simply because the kids needs come first.

In southern Missouri we elect a local school board and they hire the teachers, your guys must live in a very liberal area, for the most part we raise our own teachers and yes they are under paid their biggest benefit is getting to live here.

That was rather my thinking, Frankk. The school board is in charge of hiring administration, and while administration makes the recommendation for which teachers to hire, the board makes the final decisions.

They must have some ultra-liberal boards... :???:

Its the conservatives in Alberta that want to give parents the choice of private, public or home school.
Seems to me a teacher could do better in this situation rather than only having the public school option.
The kids seem to bennifit because there is compatition for the public schools.
I know that students do better on average in Alberta than the rest of the country.

The teachers unions pretty much run the show up here in the public schools.
