I've never been able to get geraniums goin. Like I said before, I don't have a green thumb......most of what's in my flower bed is bulb type flowers that don't have to have anything done to them. Oh and a few chili pequine pepper bushes that come back year after year.

House plants are guaranteed to turn brown for me.......

I don't have a green thumb either, but I do have good luck with geraniums. Usually grow them outside in planters. They look great and are not fussy about how they're looked after. Well, they look great till the damn deer get to them! They come right up to the deck where I have them and eat the flowers off! Don't bother any of the other plants, just the geraniums.

Do you have mint? It grows practically wild here if it escapes from a pot and deer don't like it. One year I tried confusing the deer by laying some mint stems across the flowers I wanted and it worked well. They didn't eat one gladiolus which were tall enough to be at mouth level. Might
work with your geraniums.

My favorite of all favorite flowers, osteos. These are the African Suns, first year I've grown them. I love the African Moons, they are almost blooming will post those when they do. I also  Love the white ones, they have that really neat iridiscent blue center. Will post that wone when they bloom (they are getting close) These were taken by me. MCG took pictures for her 4-H project :D

I like any flower that looks similar to a daisy, and those do, Hanta Yo.

No flowers around here yet...just some purple weeds. Would you like to see a picture of them?

We have bunches of them around the water tanks, etc. Some places a wave of purple!!! We also have golden peas, and a few larkspur - not big spots of them, just a plant here and there. Might have to go to war against them, seeing more every year.

Also shooting stars, snow crocuses. :D

wild plums are blooming here too, and now they are calling for a storm and near freezing temps for the next few nights, sure hope not, we haven't had plums for about 6 or 7 years.

I noticed, as we came back from town yesterday, the wild plums up the road are blooming, too. So far as I know, they've never put on any fruits, it always freezes them too soon.

Nice pics, Hanta! MCG must be taking photography in 4-H......

Hanta, are the African Suns perennial? They look really pretty. I introduced wild white daisies into our yard yrs ago, probably not the smartest thing since they've seeded themselves EVERYWHERE but I can't hate them because they fill in all the blank spots so well and blend with the other colors. Just have to keep pulling them out everywhere else and try to dead head them after they bloom to keep from reseeding themselves.

We have these red things that grow out in our pasture, I have no idea what they are, does anyone know?

They ain't flowers, but I still think they are perdy. Mushrooms means there's moisture, n that's a good thang.

The Bluebonnets are all gone from the Texas roadsides, but that's by no means the end of the wild flowers, these are bloomin like crazy everywhere now.

Golly, Lilly, you sure have alot of beautiful colors provided by God in your corner of the world. Cool, really cool. Our wildflowers will start a little later. We don't have as many here as in W. Montana.

Yes there are lots of different flowers and colors here. I guess, growin up in West Texas where there aren't many wild flowers, mostly just bloomin cactus, and bare grass, and a lil sage brush, it really makes me appreciate all that there is here. We traveled when I was a kid, but I guess it must have been at the wrong time of the year to see wildflowers in different parts of the country. So the first spring we were here, I was just amazed at all the different flowers, and colors. We've been here since 1989 and the amazement hasn't went away. I still find flowers that I've never seen before.

nr,

Osteos are daisy-like, they all have that really neat iridescent blue around the center. They are considered "Half Hardy Annuals" whatever that means. Here they are an annual, at first we had a hard time starting them from seed, but I've done well with them this year. Been growing them about 4 years, first saw them at a green house, MCG and I loved them so we bought plants, then sw found the seeds in Thompson and Morgan seed company, each year they come out with new colors, they have purple ones now, maybe even more colors.
They tend to be hard to germinate, I can testify to that fact, they did better germinating in the green house. You may have better luck where you live since you have a longer growing season. Osteos have an ugly name, Osteospermum, and can tolerate hot dry weather. Betcha didn't think you'd get a lecture didja  8)

Thank you, Hanta. Will see if there are some locally and might try planting them against the house where some tough annuals do survive winter sometimes. Nice that they tolerate Hot and Dry.
Our azaleas and clematis just started opening and a few roses. And since our climate is Cold/Hot and Dry/Soggy it suits 60 million weed varieties .

The Osteo Tetras are blooming, here is an orange/peach colored one, notice the ring of iridescent blue around the center.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day :D and I will plant the rest of my osteos outside in two whiskey barrels I have on the little deck. When they get to bloomin' I'll post another pic! Those Osteos are about my favorite :D
