Even tho I think these roses are really pretty, we hate em, they are wild, and will take over the pasture.

SALT....will kill anything!! Just put a little pile of salt @ the base of the plant......water it or let it rain on it. Done deal! Cheaper than Grazon or Roundup also!

Hey Lilly,That rose is Albertas provincial flower :D Yes they grow like a weed here BUT don't take over our pastures, along roadsides and fencelines! Our winter weather probably stops the take-over 8) Nice pictures!

Ranchwife....don't be too liberal with the salt as you will kill surrounding stuff. Just pile it at the roots of whatever is ailing you at the time. If it's a big and thick group of weeds or even a fair sized sapling tree it might take 2 doses...but it will die! If it's not raining in the future....water that baby!!

I use it to keep kudzu off the fence lines on one side of my pasture. RoundUp etc gets expensive when kudzu grows 3 feet day!! and it will grow 3' a day ...easy!

Salt will kill just about anything. That's why it tells you on a bag of de-icer for sidewalks and driveways to not shovel the slush onto your lawn. Makes for lovely brown patches in your lawn! Salt is also the main ingredient in Roundup.

I'll hafta go out and take pictures of just how big these rose bushes can get. We haven't tried anything recently to kill em, but they spread if a limb is broke off, it'll take root where ever it falls.

I aint hoggin no rain, aint had any to oink at in about a week or so. It is rainin off and on down in Houston right now, hope them thunderstorms go ahead n build up this afternoon, it's been cloudy here all day. Keepin my fingers crossed..........

Lilly, I'll trade you starts of your white roses for my pink roses...........

The pink ones actually don't really spread that much, Al brought some little ones home when he was about 6, we planted them in the yard, and they have stayed in the same planter (which is just sides on the ground) for almost 10 years, now. They only bloom for a couple of weeks, though, about June.

We tried salt on our elm saplings, and it didn't work, so good luck!!!!
I had elm saplings grow into 1 of my hay fields, from a shelter belt of elm's..Killed the alfalfa dead where they were.Sprayed the whole field at a rate of 2 litres of roundup an acre, didn't even hurt the elm saplings.

If you want a cuttin or two or three or four off these, I'd be glad to send em to you. I"m not much of a flower person in the yard. I love wildflowers, and have a few in the yard that don't require my attention......they come up and grow when it rains, bloom when it's time...without my help LOL I don't have a green thumb.........heck I don't think I even have a green pinky.
but before you decide LOL let me get that picture of how big they get so you'll have an idea what yer lookin at here
