Blue Monday

I was just listening to the radio- and they say that some researchers believe today- Jan 21st- is the most depressive day of the year :???: Call it Blue Monday...This comes from being a Monday in the middle of winter, realization of overspending for Christmas, short on cash, broken New Years resolutions, weather conditions, etc..

They went on to say folks on this day are the grumpiest, and most depressed of any day of the year....

I'll bet those folks in Butte are like a den of bears then- since Butte was 31 Below this morning  But knowing Butte folks- the cheer will be flowing pretty quickly- especially if they had MLK day off

I was rather cheered up this morning when I awoke expecting the 20-30 below the weather boys predicted- to find it was 1 ABOVE....

My burning question is for both you and your neighbor Ted, with both of you owning fine Nebraska properties, why do you continue to live in Georgia? At least in Nebraska, it is a "dry" cold or hot.

Just joking. Y'all can live wherever you want. :)

Kola--I was thinking of your problems today with what we call warm weather when a young lady (formerly from L.A.) that met (and married) a local cowboy--who live 40 miles from anyone out in the Missouri breaks was telling me about hottubbing in this weather...
The ranch house they have is not that large and only has a shower- but she likes to soak in the bath in the mornings before she drives into a rather high level professional job- and since hubby rises at 4AM every day- she just has him take the cover off the hot tub in the middle of the yard- and she runs in her birthday suit out and jumps in to soak for awhile before gettin ready for work- and says its beautiful out there listening to the coyotes howl and watching the stars-- until you get days like this morning that was way below zero out there, and your hair and eyebrows get so frosted you can't hardly see....Then its hurry up and cover the tub- and mad dash to the house before you freeze up.....
I had to admit she's far tougher than me- but told her to expect me some early AM for coffee - after I watch the mad dash....

Maybe she is why you have had so much rain in your country OT.
She might be better than the "Rainmaker."

How long did you say she had lived there? :p

Many years ago on a hot summer day, one of the local ladies was gardening. Since she lived clear out in the boonies, she was rather scantily clad. Being absorbed in the job at hand, she was caught unaware when another local rancher buzzed the house in his Piper Cub. She said he banked that Cub right around to make another swing, but in the meantime she made a run for the house.

This lady and her husband moved to Arizona in their retirement years. While down there, she and her husband went to visit some other Nebraska people who were wintering in a different Arizona town about a hundred miles away. The visiting couple ended up spending the night. The visiting husband got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom down the hall. When he came back to bed in the dark, he tried to lay down on the mattress, but his wife was hogging his side of the bed. He elbowed her, as was standard procedure, but she didn't respond like normal. It was then that he discovered he was in the wrong bed. His host and hostess were in the bed he was trying to get in. :)

This gal told me that even out there in the boonies- she got caught one morning by a friend of mine and his son that showed up about an hour early to help move cows... She said that she was able to make a deal with them to go behind their horse trailer until she got in the house if she'd cook them breakfast...

I told her I don't eat breakfast....

One of our good neighbors in W. Montana was quite elderly. He was so well thought of, that people fondly called him, "APPLEJACK".

My in-law were visiting and we decided to go see Applejack and his wife. It must have been around 8 pm.

Applejack goes to bed pretty early.

We knocked on the door and he must have jumped out of bed and pulled his clothes on. When he answered the door, he was a tad befuddled...but he asked us all to "Come in--Come in".

We got in the door and he earnestly said to my mother-in-law,
"TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTHES, TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTHES".

Then he realized what he had said and he shook his head really hard, as if to clear it, and he said, "What am I saying?"

It was one of those precious moments.

Once in SD on a dig site.....up near Tap and Liberty Belle...I got ' caught' at the windmill one AM by this REALLY low flying plane. He made several passes before I could get ' decent'.

Upon my return to camp ( about a mile away) everyone was wondering if I saw him...yeah I saw him alright and let loose a tirade about he needed to learn how to fly...could'a killed someone and himself with stunts like that.... " damn" this and " damn " that.

I went off to my tent...about 30 minutes later I noticed a face hanging around our camp I didn't know ...I introduced myself...he gave me this slick grin and said, " we've already met".

Come to find out he was the local ' yote hunter out on his AM tour of the ranches!!!
