Today I drove through a tiny hamlet called "Lanes". Still lots of Altons around there but the store is now a house. Hadn't been up that road for for probably over 20 years.

I used to stop at the store in Lanes for my Pepsi and ice cream drumstick fix when I was in those parts cutting timber for Craig Hardwoods. That would have been in '80 or a couple of years thereafter.

I wonder if your folks knew of the sawmill at Auburn run by the Craig family since early in the 20th century. What year did they move out to where you are now?

My maternal grandparents used to run the store in Lanes. I will try and find out if they knew the Craigs.
Got a call this morning from a lady that was friends with my uncle near Delaware, a group of them are coming west to ride in the Kananskis (sp)country and want to stop over at the ranch. She said she was originally from Hardisty so i asked her if she knew PC.Turns out she grew up with PC's father and he was named after a mutual friend. Small world. :D
