BOOL SHEIST OR A GOOD IDEA ????

GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It ' s worth your consideration.

Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..... not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out at this point.... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people.

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends it to at least ten more (30 x 10 =3D 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 =3D 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE
HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you?

Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN.

THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

To find stations to avoid, go to www.exxon.com. Click on the link on the right side of the page, "Find a Service Station or Convenience Store". On that page, type in your zip code then indicate a mile range by holding the arrow down "locations within". I used 100 miles. At the bottom of the page click on "Find Your Station". The Exxon/Mobil stations locator map appears. Click on one of the dots. Another map will appear. You can change the zoom level below the map. A list locations and address will appear below the map. Now go out there an make a difference

It won't work Haymaker. IMO, even if it were possible to get all these gasoline consumers on board it would only hurt the small business owner with an Exxon or Mobil franchise.

Besides, there are no Mobil stations around here at all. Exxon stations are very few and far between. I haven't bought gas at either Exxon or Mobil for years.

IMO, the best way for the consumer to affect the petroleum price is to use less fuel overall, period. Tough to do.

I haven't filled my tanks for summer but gasoline is alread in the $2.60 range here and dyed #2 fuel is $2.35

John SD, you hit the nail right on the head. I checked the website for the dealers closest to me and it so happens that I know a lot of them. They are people who run a garage and some have done work for me.

I would hate to punish them for their affiliation.

You are also right about doing less driving and how hard it is to do that.

There is one more point that I thnk we have to consider - China. Well actually, about a billion points.

We could do more to help our (North American) supply by driving the price up to $5.00/gallon. That would slow down both their and our consumtion to the point where the demand would moderate itself.

Wow, wouldn't that hurt? Well get ready, because I think it will happen within the next 5 or so years. Maybe a little longer, but not 10 years.

The reason for that is because the Chinese economy is so massive that it will swallow ours (combined US/CAN) right up, once it gets rolling and man, it's starting to roll.

Only a relatively small number of Chinese are drivng their own vehicle, but the number is growing. It hasn't nearly hit it's stride, but it's surely going to.

When it does, the gas and oil is going to flow where the economy is growing the fastest and there is the most disposable income. And folks, we know it won't be North America.

So HAY MAKER, as much as I like your idea, it ain't going to help us as much as it is going to help China afford more gas and oil. Keep it cheap, and they will develop an appetite for it, just like we have.

What do you think folks? I think Canadians are used to being pushed around and told what they can have or cannot have.

I don't think that the Americans are, though.

At $73.00 per barrel, the crude oil costs $1.74 per gallon. Add on transportation, refining processs losses and a bunch of products which are not worth much (asphalt, heavy fuel oil, pitch) and of course a bunch of taxes and the price of $2.75 per gallon can be justified.

The catch is that domestic oil doesn't cost $73.00 per barrel. But who would sell their crude oil today for less since it is a world market?

We were in Europe years ago when the prices were in the $4-6.00 range. Of course, you can't drive very far in Europe without getting wet, so you just didn't buy as much gasoline as we do here.

when do we say screw it and start punching holes in Alaska??? to hell with the caribou and the greenies who think the environment is too fragile. do animals rights out weigh peoples needs?????

lets put some teeth in our trade negotiations. lets take some teeth away from the EPA, and let the refineries have a little slack.

People are putting their stuff in hock to buy fuel to get to work!!

I am tempted to hold a fuel truck hostage and risk jail time to get the point across to Washington. At least in jail there is 3 meals a day, a place to sleep, and all the sex I can handle........

Best economic policy the Corporate World can buy- Oil companies making record profits with CEO's getting $300 Mil retirement packages.. Oil this summer will top $80 barrel-- while cattle drop to $60 @cwt because of our unlimited import policy- with little drop in beef prices at the store- and the Cargil/Tysons etal take their profits to invest overseas....Corporate world gets richer- average American consumer just bends over farther....

I thought it was bad when the "experts" were predicting $4.00 gas- now they are saying this summer will reach $5.00, maybe even $6.00 a gallon

Jigs, I heartily agree with you. My dad spent many years in Alaska
and he was for drilling there. So are the natives. So is Bush.

Guess who is obstructing progress there?
