Bought 45 head of black and black brockled faced cow yesterday. They came in the ring gate cut off a 110 five year old to short term cows. They had all shots and pour on and preged to start calving March 20. They came off the Ladies Ranch that I was one of her VP in WSGA. She had sold all her young stuff and culls earlier last fall. Think I made a good deal as I seen her calves at the sale barn for a few years.
Went over with Rulon’s older bother and another friend they put a truck load together too. They had to put 3 head of mine on their load today. Mine got hauled home last night, we went and ate and the semi made the 200 miles home before we did. My wife and daughter were helping unload a mile up the road from our place at a neighbors at midnight when I got there , Cant get a truck to my corral right now, Tenny and I moved then down to our lot on our corral this morning. We run then thru the chute later this week and brand them.

Sue, Rex, Tenny and I went up at 11 this morning it warmed up to 7 degrees. The cows went right into the corral. Rex ran the chute; I had a hooded sweat shirt on over my arm. I clipped hair then put my backwards B bar on the left rib, Rex cut out old tags and put in new ones. We had 2 cows jump out of the alley we had to chase around and get back into the corral. I had one cow tweak my brand. My brother showed up and a neighbor, brother help load the ally, neighbor branded, I just clipped hair then. With 6 cows left the brand shorted out where the cow had tweaked it between her and top of the chute. I grabbed Mom U bar quarter circle and we used it as a running iron and put mine and Suellen’s Quarter circle 11. Worked good used the quarter circle, the made the ones one at a time.
Cows had been worked before I bought them , with a scour, alph 7 and detomax pour on.
Couldn’t use my left arm today, but used it enough that my shoulder aches to high heaven right now.

Well Jody, good to hear you are up and at it again. It sounds like you are doing quite a bit for the shape you were in a few weeks ago. Better not take too long a strides for a while though maybe? That shoulder will tell you how much to tackle as long as you listen to it!!! Keep it warm I think.

Sounds like you got a heck of a good deal Jody, especially since you know the cows.
I know the lady well and have seen her calves at the sale for a few years , good calves. Most all the cows worked good in the allry and chute, A couple where jumpers but the snow deep and hard so made the corral fence not so tall  .
was up at the chute guess those cows in the back corral cicrled and milled bad instead of working thru a gate but then they were black :D :D

Jody, I reckon in your situation that regular and intensive PT is an especially important thing for a speedy and full recovery.

When I broke (actually just a bad crack) my upper arm I was mostly confined to a sling until I healed. I had some portable corral panels fall over, with me under them.

I did take the sling off at night and laid on my side with my bad arm straightened out down my side. I propped pillows up on both my back and front side to try to keep me in that position. Sometimes I would roll over on that arm in my sleep and OUCH, that would wake me up!

I didn't do any PT. Maybe should have. It was a long time before I got the strength and range of motion back in my shoulder after the sling was off for good. In hindsight, PT would have probably speeded up the process.

One thing I did do that the PA at the clinic suggested was stand in a doorway and "crawl" up the doorframe with my hand to stretch things out in my shoulder.

I was fortunate I had no lasting effects and the damage wasn't more severe in the first place. Take it easy and don't overdo. You'll get there but I know it is frustrating in the meantime.
