Boxing day pics of the life of a Nikki.

I posted these on CT but thought I would share them with all of my friends here that do not venture onto Ct.

Day three with us and she is already at work, all of 6 weeks old and 7 pounds of her.

Well not really although the horse and llama thought she was very interesting and Stormy (if you remember my heifer) had to take a closer look and give her a big lick on the face , hubby brought her out while I did chores and she got to run around and meet a few of the animals here. She is still way to little to be left on her own but she has learned to climb stairs now( much to my dismay) and she is trying to play with the Pinta .We had a busy day today too, I needed to use our handling system and it had to be plowed out. I didn't think we had gotten that much snow yet.

So here is a few pics of Nikki.

Christmas day and helping with dinner.

Learned to climb the stairs (thanks to the Kit Kat) and as you can see she could easily fall through the railing so I have had to order another gate so she can not go up there.

Fun outside it was only -1c's, had to feed them so her and hubby hung around.
Dirt fun to eat.

So all in all it was a good day and she is learning fast , and is not scared of anything except the loud machinery.

One more from tonight she wasn't taking to her food very well after being weened so i made her up a beef dish which went over very well and she apparently does not like to share. :p

Boy she looks alot like Dezzie our Idaho Shag-I wished I knew a bit about training dogs-she's starting to show interest in working cows already. Gotta love puppies!!

Thanks everyone, I sure am glad that we waited to get a pup from the litter we wanted and it is funny how things worked out. The fella that got our pup from the other litter had his name down for this pup, but the breeder thought the dam didn't take yet so he went for the other one form another breeder. Confusing :?

I will keep you all posted on our progress. :)

BTW, she is very adorable when she sleeps but unfortunately that it not enough of the time right now.. :help:

Very cute OD/NT, a definite keeper. Sounds like he is a great friend to have around.
Nikki turned 7 weeks yesterday. She is a long haired, tri color, border collie. Her sire is Tex, 2 time world stock do champ. She is one of Dale and Dawn Montgomery's pups. Hubby did the 12 hour round trip on Christmas Eve to get her for me. I lost my beloved Steffie and right hand gal to cancer last August, so I am hoping this gal will be ready to do some work with me next winter.

House training is going really well so far ... She is already trying to herd the other two dogs and the cat..

I looked at some really nice Aussie"s but Mr HD had his heart set on a Border Collie again, he picked out Steff to begin with and was actually his dog until we sold the dairy and went into beef ,and then she became my girl.

Dogs sure make a family , a real family.. :D
