First buck my boy has gotten with his bow. Beginners luck maybe, or does it pay to watch the hunting channel every chance you get?

That's a super old mulie buck to take with anything especially a bow-I think mulies are ALOT tougher to bowhunt than whitetails myself. Next time though set his deer up and take a nice field picture-trust me you'll be glad you did. Cut the bucks tongue off and clean the blood off his face-get him rolled up on his chest and get your boy beside the horns behind the deer. He might as well get practiced up at it because I have a feeling that young fella isn't done killing big deer. Have you put the tape to him-I'm guessing he's got at least 190 inches of total score there-I just love those trashed up old muledeer. Were hunting muzzie right now so hopefully will have something to show for it soon. Get your son to join realtree.com and post his pic over there-there's quite a few ranchers.net regulars on that hunting site. Our very own Mandyjo from Montana-was the runnerup in the youth deer contest last year.

WOW!!! Nice buck Cal's boy! I'll bet you are excited.

MCG is working on getting her elk with her bow....she's found one and has her name on it.....she needs to tell some stories cuz they have run into a bunch of nice bulls...

Good job young man. Cal you should get him on Realtree. MCG is on there all of the time, she was 2nd in the youth deer last year and won the whitetail hunt in North Carolina from being on there. I can't believe she has not been telling elk stories on here, I have been calling for her and we have been into the bulls for sure, she is too picky. It sure is fun though

Thanks all, I appreciate the comments (Soapweed, tongue out of cheek :) )! Will show Cody when we get done moving some cows today, and also have him check out realtree.com. Thanks Northern Rancher for the advice on picture taking, and all. I was hauling some fertilizer back to the co-op (what was left after wheat planting) when he bagged this one...so he had gone out with his grandpa (my dad) who has probably never taken a picture in his life :D . But they have a great time hunting together. After getting it skinned out they headed clear up to Union Center, SD to where Chris Cammack has his taxidermy business. He was going to score it and call back.

Best of luck to sw and Hanta Yo's MCG, looking forward to stories and pictures! Hopefully things have slowed down enough I won't miss it on here now. :?

The more I look at that old buck the more I like him. Ty shot a buck with his bow before he shot one with a rifle-there aren't too many sports better than bowhunting to get a young person involved in. MCG is one lucky cowgirl to be able to hunt elk on her home place.

Dadgummit, he shot my buck! LOL!

Congrats to him, its really hard to get one with a bow, eh?

I almost had one, a fair bit smaller. Long story short-we snuck up on him, I missed and my buddy didn't. haha
