Montana Cowgurl had her first track meet yesterday in Billings. I had to be at a meeting in Bozeman, but sw went to the meet. sw took lots of pics, maybe he'll get them posted tomorrow.

MCG is in 7th grade, her school is class B but they competed against some class A. She got 2nd in 100 m, and broke the record for discus!! WOOHOO!! The old record for Roundup 7th grade was 69' 11-1/2". She flew it 73' 4"! Now she has to compete against herself, but she is going to try to break 8th grade girl discus, plus she is wanting to follow in her half brother's footsteps and pole vault. She's also been a straight "A" student all year. Braggin rights!!!!!

Tomorrow, I'll show her how to run the tractor so she can do some harrowing. She  to drive

Congrats to MCG. I once held the 100 yd dash record from 8th grade till sometime after I was married. You'd ever thunk that!!! Also I want to brag on our racing season. The son has place 9th in both his B-Modified features this week. I don't think that is bad for the first time ever in that type of car. 9th out of 20 or so cars isn't shabby. I was more nervous tonight, there were many wrecks in all the races. Thanks for allowing me to brag too!! Goodnight!!

Congratulations, Montana Cowgurl! I used to enjoy track. Those individual sports really let you shine. :D And I agree with Brad. Good job on the grades too. The only limiter in what you can do with your life is yourself. Looks like you have a great start.

Congratulations SW and Hanta Yo too.

I always liked track.......it was kind of relaxed and fun.
That is if the weather cooperated. Track seems to get the worst weather of all sports, either it is too hot or too cold.

Can't wait for the pics.

Congratulations

Too hot, too cold, rainin, or the wind was blowin the sand in west texas 90mph. I tried track one year back in highschool. Could changed the sports name to "sand blastin yer legs" out there......
Tibbs......hehe he knows what I'm talkin bout.

Congrats Montana Cowgirl!!!!!

Heck that was why Shorty didn't get her elk she used a gun -she should of just ran it down and whacked it with a stone. Good for her-you can sleep at night those P'wood boys are too slow to catch her lol.

MCG at the meet. She took the 400 and 800 relays from dead last to 3rd and fourth. I think I have her convinced to drop the shot and pick up the 200, nobody sees any part of her but her back when she is flying down the track, those short legs it looks like Corky after a gopher.

last year, 13'5'', she thinks she needs to pole vault just cause her brother was good at it. I think not.

It's not how long your legs are it's how fast you pick them up and lay them down and will to win. Athletics is such a great thing for kids-my youngest is our track star-had to miss divisions for 4H last year but watch out this year.

Just kidding NR, she got the short legs from me. Looks like I'm destined to watch track meets for the next 6 years. Got to go from the track meet to watch MSU baseball, which is a little more exciting, but the Chancelor of the university closed the beer garden down so baseball isn't as much fun now. Two more meets next week, I'm starting to run around the country almost as much as NR :!:

Congrats to you all...it's takes all of your efforts to make a winner in the classroom and on the track/field...

I too was in track...did really well in sprints and shot, and long jump, but not quite coordinated enough for the disk...then my coordination helped me blow my knee out (tore all ligaments running hurdles) and pretty much ended my track/athletic career

Again great job MCG...enjoy it...track meets were some of the greatest highlights of my jr. and high school careers, but in life your good grades will get you a lot farther!

Cheers---

aww thanx guys...just got home for the weekend. man its good to be home! yup, i got first in the discus, second in the 100-my time was 15.08, 3rd in the 800 relay, 4th in the 400 relay, and 5th in the shot put (i cant throw it worth a crap) yes, im switching shot for the 200. no dad, i dont think i have to do pole vaulting just cuz my brother did it, i actually like it and its really fun! anyway, im just iceing my knee, went to the trainer (people from the sports injury and medicine clinic in bilings come to our school a couple of times a week) and was told i have patella tendonitis, but if i dont run or use my knee alot i should be ok by tuesday, when we start practice again. we have a meet next thursday and then one on saturday, and that's about all i have to say for now lol thanx again guys

You know what is odd is that a lot of people think that shot and discus go together.............if you are good at one you probably will the other. Our track coach always wanted the kids that were the runners to do the discus.
Once you get the technicque down, then it comes down to speed.

Congrats on your track, I always told my kids to show me, not tell me what they could do in sports.

You SHOWED us

Short or long legs don't matter as long as she can outrun the boys, then again if she can't dads short legs can run the boys out!Grats girl.
