Branded a few 2 yr. old heifers calves today.

We rode through and sorted about half the 2 yr. old pairs off to brand today, then corraled them into portable panels. I have been dabbling in black and white pictures some lately. What do you think? I would have had more pictures, but forgot the chip for the camera, and the internal memory filled up fast. Maybe tomorrow will turn out better.

My #1 cowpoke and crew pushing them in.

Fooling around. I liked the way this one turned out.

I love B&W pics, and I particularly like the first one of the cowpoke and crew.

I also really like the first photo DJL. I am sure years from now it will make me sentimental. :) The young cowpoke had a hard time while riding home from branding. I am not sure what happened, but they were fooling around, and he ended up on the ground with a sore shoulder. Might have been "racing". :?

Years from now, when all danger of punishment is long past, the kids start to fess up to the many things they've done that would have curled your hair had you known at the time. My kids are grown, and I'm starting to hear all kinds of stories....

All too often we don't try the black and white, when in reality it would "make the photo"

Love the first one. Would look great with a white mat and black frame........

The one down your leg is a neat prospective too.

Nice pics. Where did you get the riata?

Thanks EJ. I looked quite a bit before I finally decided to take a chance and buy one on Ebay. It is a 60 footer, and they are an animal of a whole different kind to get used to. Most reata's that I had seen were from 5-10 bucks a foot, and I got this one for a lot less than that, but it is a very good one.

Sorry not to answer you before JB, but I didn't rope yesterday as a neighbor and friend came over, but these calves were bigger than I would like to start practicing with it on. I took the photo a few days back.

Outstanding pictures, as always! I too really enjoy the black and white photos. The B&W seems to pick up things that are normally missed with color.

Does your camera have a sepia setting? I've found that is fun to mess with too. You've inspired me to try some more black and white. I generally just convert in Photoshop, but need to experiment with the camera! Thanks!

How's the young lad after his "wreck"? I hope he's doing better. The youngin's seem to heal a lot faster than us ol' farts!

Did you get any rain last night? Not to brag, but we received another inch. That is four inches of rain since last Monday. That is over twice the amount we got last year! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!

Cheers---

TTB
