Branding Invite

Northern Rancher- "I might sing 'Walk like an Egyptian' on a cordless mike with an all girl band in Saloon #10 like last trip but not lighting any more stuffed elk on fire lol. You guys will have a blast down there."

NR, Me and a drunken buggy skinner once sang "Walk Like an Ojibway" in the bar in Rainbow Lake Ab. on karoke night.
It was almost worth the lickin' we got after. Almost.

Haha!
I played in a band in the '80's and a native woman came up and requested "Sweepity Woman". She meant "Sweet City Woman" by the Stampeders. That was at the Silver Slipper in Edmonton during the CFR.
I knew what she meant and grabbed my banjo and then I got the giggles..... :D

Back twenty years ago, my sisters were listening to a local Native American radio station one Sunday morning. Country gospel songs were the theme of the show, and sandwiched in among the others was "Heaven's Just a Sin Away" by the Kendalls. My sisters got a big laugh out of it.

NR......are you gonna cancel the showers or will your branding crew get to stay at the yard, consume your beer supply and tell "tales" of the old west until it dries up! Could be a must attend event :!:

Well it has happened cowsense-picture the eldest son of the Diamond J showing 4 young girls from Quebec how he could ballet dance at 4'00 A'M-this was after a big nut fry. I think you know who I'm talking about lol. Not a pretty sight lol.

Northern Rancher----sure would love to come your way on the branding day, but me and the 16 year old demoliton driver will be heading home after spending 4 "wonderful" days in Billings (i had an osha conference and she had a mall and the fair to visit  )....sure sounds like alot of fun....will be awaiting the pictures to be posted!!! :D

I wish I could arrange to come - - - could you get some on video - - - I will gladly pay any expence. I will try to arrange some free time next year to help - - - Take care, we don't need a "branding wreck" posted

George I'll try and get a neighbor lady to come tape one-I'd of won 'funniest videos' many times if I'd of had a camera at all the brandings. Lots of impromptu bronc rides over the years lol. Mine went pefectly smooth-the cows were a bit cagey wanted to drift on the kids but they shaped their herd good and brought them in at a walk-the same guys we branded with were here and Ty and his bull riding busddies wrestled-pretty much a perfect day. We have 400 to do at a friends on Tuesday-can't wait. The only thing that sucks is Ty ropes better than me lol-not a hard feat.

In a rather round about way, NR got these pics for me to post for him as he can't for whatever reason. Hope I don't screw up too bad. I can't believe it is still green up there!!

Advertising for SSAP as NR could not make the open house.

Thanks for sharing NR, see you at the NILE

Those are wonderful pictures NR. Looks like you're raising all the help you'll need and they're all good looking kiddies.

Thanks everyone-I'm a very lucky man. Hopsing is named after the cook on 'Bonanza' and her habit of hopping over fences as a young horse-16 years old and easily best horse I've ever owned or rode. That old red cow is 12 and has raised 14 calves-were flushing her Horned Hereford this fall gonna raise some F1's for ourselves and for sale.

Good pictures. You mentioned the brand "lazy M over half diamond". My dad's brand since the early 1940's has been the "half diamond M" or "rafter M" on the left hip. It is the same as the Marlboro cigarette company's brand and logo, but I'd just about bet that Dad had it first.
