Or maybe it was stupidity LOL either way, I was out day before yesterday ridin pastures in the middle of the afternoon. Done lots of stoppin under shade trees to escape the heat.....and I'd stopped in town and got a big huge Dr. Pepper with lots of ice before goin out there.

This lil gal has figured out how to eat and stay cool at the same time...

Great pictures. Each time someone from another area posts it's fun to see the vast differences in the parts of the country we all live in. Those lilly pads that just grow there my aunt buys here for her pond.

At less you got a good bit of water around. Water in the ponds is getting low up here. The funny thing is the river is running half banks. If it came out the cracks would suck it up fast. The old river bottom black dirt has cracks about 2 inches wide. I thought I seen a china men stick his head up in one of the crack the other day. But to my surprise we still have a good bit of grass in the pastures and its green to. But the hay fields are not look that great. We haven't cut any hay yet and normally we would have already made the first cutting. You can tell the drought is starting to take its toll on some of the ranchers in the area by the number of cattle coming to the sale barns. East Texas Livestock had over 2,000 HD Tuesday and Navasota had 1,983 today. If you have any cattle in the area that are needing to be sold you best get them there before these big runs flood the market and drops the prices. From what I hear from the buyers it's not going to be pretty if this happens.

Last week, think it was Thursday night. Right before I went to bed I checked Ranchers weather for my town......it was 11:47pm.....temp was 95....with a heat index of 98....humidity was 38%.

We've not had hardly any humidity since this high pressure system moved in on top of us. But I've noticed the last couple days, humidity is risin. And we are at least gettin a few clouds now instead of empty blue skys. Still no rain in the forecast tho
