Breast reductions

I know I am usually the class clown but I'm pretty serious here.

A dear friend of mine is going to have the surgery done. I am try to talk her out of it. All of the jobs I have seen to date have looked HORRIBLE after. Weird shapes and horrible scarring. I honestly think if she just lost weight it would be more cofortable for her. How would you gently voice your concerns. I have a tendancy to be a tell it like it is girl and in this case I think that might not be delicate enough......

I do agree that if shes overwieght that the first place she would loose would be the breasts,at least thats what all the guys say. That being said I have no problam with this type of surgery if theres heath issues like severe back problams. Theres a young woman in the lodge I work at that is going shortly for the surgery and I totally support her desision for the simlpe fact wieght loose will not help this girl and seriously shes huge and is in severe back pain constantly.I am not one for elective surgery just for looks though, deal with what God dished out is my theory.

A local lady here had to have hers reduced because she had actually some discs dislocated in the upper back due to the weight.

I'd do it if I was in pain and miserable.

I was thinking the same thing Kola. But I have been trying to point her in the direction of a plastic surg. rather than a general one. But the government will only pay to the regular. My big fear for her is that she is an "appearance" type girl and I think the after product will make her really uncomfortable. It's a hard call that's for sure ...

Oh man..she needs a plastic surgeon for that deal.

A general surgeon, as good as they may be, are NOT the ones for that type of surgery.

Has she cked into the actual cost of a plastic surgeon? I say that because nowsdays they do soooo much of this type of surgery, it may not be all that cost prohibitive after all!!

No body wants ugly-after surgery- boobies!!!!

Judith a good friend of mine, she was my bridesmaid, had a reduction a few years ago,to great results with her own body imagine being so much more postive...I think its very hard to be noticed for one...ooops two things. I find gals who have this are way more confident and happier with themselves.

I'm not happy about the General though,in Alta. if its for medical purposes, backache, then a plastic surgeon will be paid for,I thought B.C would be the same :???:

Mrs. Greg, She is currently in school in Red Deer. Does she qualify as an "Albertan"? She goes full time. I wonder if she could slide under the mat on this one and get her surgery done while she lives there. I think she is in school another 2 years? Hmmm Worth looking into I should say!

I'm not sure of her status...if she pays into Alberta Health care, theres no reason why not but I bet shes still under B.C and I'm not sure of the dynamics of coverage under Alta. I know theres a great Dr. in Red Deer that does that surgery, thats where alot go to get it done....not sure of his name but I bet your friend can find out pretty easily.

I've know a few gals that have talked about doing it but are generally waiting until after baby having age or at least trying to plan to do it after they decide they are done having kids.. I dunno, I have know a few gals with rather large chest who are size 4's or 6's that have a heck if a time getting clothes to fit and such... God, why do my wife's friends feel comfortable enough around me to have these conversations...

I do remember watching a show about it once on Discovery or something and the scaring was something that was horrific IMO.. This would have been 4 or 5 years ago maybe..

women have no clue that there are some things we just DO NOT want to hear

The mrs. had to have a breast removed years ago and they made the other one match. She had had a bad back for years and always say's that she wishes she had had it done earlier in her life and that they had took even more.

Me, I don't care one way or the other.

It ain't the outside of a person that counts, but what's on the inside.

She didn't have real bad scars as far as I could tell. I'm sure they are much better at it now.

Isn't that the truth.. Of course my wife enjoys watching me squirm in the car seat or do the I'm excusing myself shuffle out of the room.. It is more the relations and her friends talkinga bout things that gives me the heavie jeabies than just her...

And I can't beleive you deleted your post little bo peep...  :D

I think many women would prefer the smaller breasts and would rather have the scarring than have to deal with back pain etc. I just know this young lady VERY well and I KNOW that scarring is going to be a huge issue for her. It is hard for me to understand just how much emphasis is placed on outward appearance. I'm the total opposite of K in that regard. I know it is going to go from depression about her breasts to mortification over the amount of scarring. This is a very radical surgery!

If she gets a good plastic surgeon the scars will be minimal, now using a General Surgeon, who knows. He'd have to be a pretty good seamstress cause they usually dont' take the time for ' pretty'.

I had some scars after a gallbladder surgery with a Gen Srg and it looked like I'd been in a knife fight and lost. They really clashed with that pink bikini!!

But when I had to have another surgery, that surgeon, who was also a plastic surgeon and even though it wasn't his job nor his mission on that surgery, fixed the old scars and you can hardly see them now!

Those Plastic Surgeon guys are the best! I hope your friend goes that way & I wish her the best!

A girl a few years younger than me went in to get it done and they screwed up on the anastetic and she's impaired now-can't function on her own. I guess that's a risk for any surgery-from the looks of some guys walking around up at the lake they could use some too. For the good of humanity and love of your fellow man put on a T shirt already.
