Bred Calves

Years ago I kept 26 heifers for the herd & 6 were bred in a 65 day season by the herd bulls . I calved them . the next year I used lutalyse on the replacements at weaning . That bunch of heifers didnt get bred very well they were all spread out & some didnt get bred . I never did it again .

Several years ago I was going to keep 8 heifers back and the vet advised using lutalyse at weaning in October to make sure they would be ready to breed in the spring and no early surprises.

I had a great surprise the following fall when all 8 were open!

I'm not sure the lutalyse did it but all the cows were bred and I turned the bull in with the heifers 2 weeks early.
