Brisket disease

Welcome Lady J--Glad to see you've joined the ranchers.net family-- I've read some of your posts on the Advantage Cattle site....

Now we're getting an even more diverse site-- we got us a lawyer   :P

I only run bulls that are PAP tested and from altitude herds. Our summer range is 9000 plus and we winter at 5900. By keeping western bred, range raised, altitude tested bulls, we have had zero problems. I feel the same way about buying bulls that go to feedyards as calves and then MELT like a popsicle in july when turned out to climb ridges and breed cows. I'll take no creep bulls every time. I like my calves to be alive until they get off the truck at the slaughterhouse. YW & WW & 205AW are wonderful but live calves and sound bulls that cover cattle all season win me over everytime! :-) If I could run cows on ground that has grass and was fairly flat, I'd probably have to wire my jaw shut so I wouldn't be drooling all the time. Out here our horses have a heck of a time standing up on flat ground, they ain't had much practice! :D

Hi Lady J L&L,

I use Balancer bulls, and at the time was using Freedom x EXT and Flying H Extra 150D x EXT. All bulls had a yearling PAP score below 40.

Please note that I have used these bloodlines prior to 2006, and since without significant problems. I have daughters out of these bulls, and haven't had any problems with them yet. The oldest females are four year olds.

Once again, thank-you for your advice!
