Bull Business

You are right, H. And that's why we no longer buy bulls from the
person I mentioned in my original post. We had purchased bulls from
the father for years with no problem whatsoever. He guided us, was
interested in our program and he darn sure knew his cattle and
what would best benefit us. He was a stand-up guy.

I've went to a few sales now where they had no auctioneer...Just a sheet of paper with the mininum starting price for each animal- and you had 2-3-4 hours to wander around- examine the cattle as the sale goes on- write down your bid- or top the last bid (usually by minimum $100 increments on bulls- $50 on heifers)... And I really like them...None of the emotion, promotion, and commotion and rafters bidders of the auctioneer sales- and gives you time to make a few phone calls doing further checking on bloodlines- or seeing if someone wants to partner...

I usually spend more at those type then the auction ones because it gives me more time to look over the purchase and decide its worth it....
