Bull calf-Updated

For any of you I have shared the story on my partnership on the registered cow. This is her calf, and April 1 baby, picture was in late June. Grew like a weed after hitting the ground at 70# My guess is he weighs in the 6's but I don't know for sure. He is moderate to small framed but wide as a tank.

Don't have recent picture, will after this weekend when I collect 205 day weight but I finally got the registration papers on him.

I like Jake... Got some good even EPD's- nice low BW EPD- not too high on milk, which helps out for keeping heifers in a herd around here... I see he goes back 4 or 5 times to 6807, which is a bull I like...And from what I can see in his picture he looks good...
Be intersting to see him in a year or two....

I was just noticing today how good of shape the double bred 6807 bull I have (coming 3 year old) and how much more filled out he is in the rear end than any of the other bulls I saw today.....

This little bull is the widest calf I've seen for a good long time. with the way he grew it was just as much or more out as up. He looked as wide as he was tall last time I say him which was about a month ago.

His dam is crippled. She broke a hip or at least permanently damaged it the first winter we got her fighting in an ice storm.

That is the 6807 influence!! THAT is what is meant by "prepotence!" We need more '6807's' around in the industry today!

A 6807 with good feet and large scrotal measurements...

Thats a general description of one of my herd bulls. His scrotal was 39cm at 13 mo. One day I have got to get my camera out of the box and start reading the directions. lol

Weighed him Saturday, at 203 days he weighed 640#

Pictures aren't the best but I was trying to get decent ones in a VERY short period of time as we were short on time this weekend.

You might be right. That would have been an Earnestly Providential Decision.

I'm just wonderin if everyone elses EPD notch means the same thang our EPD notch means......???

It generally means that their ear tag ripped out.

you can always count on the ones you want to keep a purdy set of EPDs to rip them up.

EPD's are no better than the person who arbitrarily comes up with the numbers. In the wrong person's hands, EPD's are nothing more than Effective Purposeful Deception.

Hopefully you can see a bit of humor and tongue-in-cheekedness in all of this. Otherwise, maybe you are Exhibiting Postdoctoral Doldrums. :)

We have a few that have ripped out, but we notch the calves ears when they are vaccinated for blackleg. It's kinda a general rule around here, everyone notches ears for blackleg Vac.

Hm-m-m-m-m I had not thought of that interpretation! Excellently Propounded Description. - - - Not factual - -but well thought-out nevertheless!
