Bull Riding

I went to a local bull riding last night- first non hockey major event they've held in our new indoor event center....Just a punkin roller, but not a bad show- Badlands Rodeo Circuit...Some of those young bulls are plenty on the fight- one stuck its horn in one kids crotch and flipped him higher than the fence-- he was walking a little slow for awhile  ...

They only ended up with about 25 riders last night-- The Canadians all got hung up at the border and they couldn't get across- hoping they can for tonites show...But with 2 go arounds and a finals each night they still bucked quite a few bulls...And all the finals round bulls were old proven PBR bulls- needless to say, no one rode a finals bull......

It was a nice spring get together for everyone- break from calving for all those that couldn't get away to the PBR in Billings-- and as one of my neighbors said, you can take the wife, girlfriend, and all the kids for the same price as one of the Billings tickets.....

Plus you won't get that nasty virus that is going around Billings. We have been hearing lots about it on the radio.

called Norovirus...VERY nasty....very contagioius!! had a young lady come to the high school the other day, coughing, gagging, vomiting all over the school (found out later that she had contracted Norovirus) and refused to go home "because I have missed too many days and I don't wanna have to make up the homework"....one simple phone call from me took care of that!! :? :? :?

Just have to boast for a second and say that Nebraska is where PBR Champion Justin McBride grew up! Mullen, Nebraska has Justin and John Howell who plays for the Seattle Seahawks to boast as alumni!

The virus epidemic must not have slowed down people coming for the Billings PBR tho- talked to a fellow last night that said he called for tickets and all that was left was the $100+ seats- all the general admissions were sold out......

Their was a couple of fairly good riders here- one name I recognized from the PBR was Mark Ward...Think we might take it again tonite...

I thought those viruses just followed them bull riders around the circuit......

buddy of mine said you can forget your riding glove, but never forget your pennicillin!

Well apparently only 1 of the Canucks made it across the border- anyway only 1 from Regina showed up- bucked off two bulls...

I think Mark Ward ( who owns some of the bulls) and Tyrel Smith- a twice MT state HS bull riding champ and pretty fair college cowboy took a lot of the purse...Smith is a college friend of my daughters and she tried to convince me to take him in the calcutta- but I'm too tight with my money...

My son didn't do too bad in the calcutta, tho-- the first round he bought Mark Ward and also bought the bullpen....Ward took second and since only two riders rode the kid won 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places in the calcutta......

Not quite Billings caliber- but a good show... Our little event center only seats about 800 and I think they were close to that both nights...Nice event to go socialize with everyone you haven't saw all winter and plenty of room to let the grandkids go get filthy playing in the dirt....

And I got to watch most of the Billings PBR on the TV replay after we got home....

I like to pull for my son's cousin, Chris Hansen. He won the $50,000 at Calgary last year, and won the CFR.
Justin Volz, who is also from here and won the Calgary $50,000 twice, I also like to see do well.

I have to wait till the beginning of July for our rodeo-- Same place as my cattle show, just in different buildings...
In July, when yu get to rodeo my best advice is not to worry about the bullriders, but watch them barrel racers-they can become a problem down the road, like on wedding anniversaries? :D

lol. Are you speaking from experience, greg??!!

But seriously, our neighbour is running it, and there may be steer riding, and we have a few that may buck, and Dad says if I work on it, I'll be able to ride, but we don't know how to train them. I guess I'll jest have to wait till branding-lol. We have a few big suckers now-600 lbs., so they'll be fun to ride. My little brother rode one down the alley way last branding, and the post was in, needless to say, he went over, the bull calf(550 lbs.) went under, and he landed back on!So I owed him 5 bucks cause I bet him he couldn't stay on him for 8 seconds-lol!!!
