Lile the counter idea, then you know if it is worth it, we may do the it all for not if know one looks. We aren't that sofisticated yet for ours. Have Western Sales Management doing ours and for the first year a catolugue will have to do. And thank you for your interest, red and black bulls. Some smokin good ones off of SAV Density. See if the real cowboys find them.

Have you hearf if Vern,Eileen, Ross and Company are setting a new date or are they too at the peril of indeciion of CFIA?

CA we manage our own sale and do our own catalogue nd have it printed at a local shop. This year we have OBI doing the sale consulting. We are not a big outfit so we try to do most we can ourselves.

Nice looking cattle! I've been using Balancers for 5 years, and love them. I especially like the short gestation length bulls. It's nice to have 70 pound calves come out of mature cows and wean heavy in the fall. Makes calving go a lot easier.

Our Balancer source is going to only raise commercial cattle after this spring, and so I'm looking for another high elevation Balancer breeder. I run up to 8,500 feet and so I need the bulls PAP tested.

Please explain the pricing deal. Sorry if I've missed it before.

Is that the price where you start the bidding? How does that work?

Is it like a silent auction?

Good looking bulls. Good luck.

The prices listed in the catalogue are the starting prices set on the bull.
We have a sale board and interested parties put their names beside a bull they wish to purchase. If there is more than one name beside the animal it is live auctioned to those parties only, with the highest bidder owning the bull or heifer. The animals with the most names beside are sold first . If there is only one name beside it is sold to that party at the listed price. Any bulls not sold sale day remain for sale at the listed price.
the advantages of this method are:
-the buyer knows who he is bidding against
-if you have a bad weather you don't give away your best bulls to a limited crowd
-we eliminated some unnecessary sales staff and expense
-normally if there are any bulls left over they are the higher priced bulls so late spring customers don't get picked over sale leftovers
-we have time to get in contact with phone bidders
-the sale is started with high priced animals and goes from there

Its not for everyone but we have a dedicated customer base, some of which do not trust the traditional sale method

Thanks for that cowsense. We focus on making the catalogues accessible to dial up customers by splitting the catalogue up into pdf pages. Bull sale time is exciting!
