Bull sale season

I went to a small bull sale Saturday and was suprised at the low prices. BR Midland line bulls went for 1100 to 1300 dollars for yearlings and nice ready to work two year olds went for under 1500. Just wondering if this is a trend in your area or if the prices are up, I was thinkin' that folks are sitting on thier hands with the high prices of hay, seed, diesel, ect. and waiting until next year to buy bulls if they don't have to buy one this year? Just curious how things are in ya'lls neck of the woods? I guess if you are buying a bull or two dozen lower prices are good and if ya need to sell half a hundred, you'd like top dollar. Even real nice registered hiefers were no-saled cause they couldnt get 900 for around a third of the offering. I was wishing the checkbook had actual money in it instead of the monopoly stuff! :D

Actually the bull sales I have seen have been about normal...I think the one here two weeks ago averaged over $2200 for 65 bulls- and all sold....The fall sales were all pretty good...Bred cow prices are out of sight- with even some old broken mouth cows bringing $900...But I see where 1800lb cull cows are bringing almost $1000....

I was at one yeaterday. 2 young guys with a relatively small angus herd each. TJ Gabriel averaged 3900+ while Jon Millar averaged 3200+.
I have attended several sales with every one averaging 2000+

In the Dakotas, most of the sales are better than the past, in fact some are the best they have ever had. The year before was dry and it seemed that more cows were leaving than staying. But this year was alot better. Most of the sales are from the mid 2's to 3000. Some are alot better. Ours was the best we ever had averaging $3542 with a top of $6500 and a bottom of $2000. Even though expenses are up, in our area the attitude it as well. Their will be a pretty good one on DV Auction today. If you get a chance have a watch.

Colyers Hereford sale in Idaho a couple days ago averaged $3150.00 on 1$100+ bulls and $2140.00 on 100 heifers (yrlgs I think  ) Just read a list of Hereford sales and most in this general (4 state) area averaged between $2200 - $3500. There is a Hereford sale here on monday and an Angus on tues, so will see how they do.
