Today Jim and I looked through Weaver Angus bulls. They have a sale coming up soon, and I like walking through them while they're turned-out...also, I may not be able to get away for the sale, so today was a good day to look at them.

Me taking a look. These bulls have very nice dispositions, and the two we bought last spring are doing well. I'm anxious to see what sort of calves we get out of them.

I just HAD to post these goat pictures  . Weavers have goats to help control weeds. In total, they run about 750 head. They're entertaining, but I don't want any...I'll come visit them instead  .

how big of pasture were the bulls in? nice to see calm animals like that

They were in four different pastures, I'd guess up to 1/2 section in size. They've been feeding them alfalfa hay and some grain. It is nice to walk through quiet bulls, and it's nice to see them turned out, not in corrals.

Good luck on the bull buying. Tomorrow I am planning to go look at some that are for sale private treaty. Looks like the goats are all sporting ear tags, just like cattle.

I have to admit that we have about 8 boar goats. They are good for eating weeds and training pups, but other than that they can be a pain.

I have a neighbor with 5 acres and about 50 boar goats - - - -he swears he can make about $50,000 a year on them butchering and selling to the imigrants form the middle east - - - I find it hard to believe but he does seem to live well and always pays good money for the corsest hay you can find. I have sold him several loads of big rocks for them to climb. He says it cuts way back on trimming feet.

There used to be a government program that payed quite a subsidy to run goats/sheep on weedy land--especially in spurge country... I know a couple of big cattlemen that all of a sudden got into the sheep business to partake of the program...
I don't know if it still exists or not...
