One of my happiest days was when I got a post maul with a boughten handle-Dad used to whittle them out of birch-they'd always twist just a bit when you'd hit a post-wearing gloves was 'au verbotten' unless you were stringing wire lol.

Grassfarmer. Sorry for the late reply but things have been busy. When i mentioned "cat-hammed" i meant having less lower 1/3 of his 1/4. When looking at a cat they essentially have no "round" in cattle terms... I think I maybe explained this poorly, but there is my shot.[/quote]

Only two Denny - the Scotch Highland and the Beef Shorthorn. The breed composition is 3/8ths Highland 5/8ths Shorthorn. They started the breeding program in the 1940s and were recognised by Government as a breed in their own right in 1965 (the only new breed of cattle in the UK in the 20th century.)

Interesting that a major semen company is disposing of all the Gelbvieh, Limousin and Salers bulls. Luing sure could of had that srtong hold of those type of breeds. Luing much more rancher orinented still wondering why Gelbvieh is still going or sliding the slippery slope.

The salebarn guys here claim they get sick too easy and hence drive the price down..

I mentioned that comment to a fellow that is a rep of one of the salesbarns today that was up here buying cattle -- and his only answer- along with a big smile and a power pump- was YESSSSS :!:

Luing is a composite breed of Shorthorn and Highland. Grassfarmer can elaborate, but I will say that I've been anxiously awaiting a tour of his place for years, but I never seem to make the time to go see him.

And I've been the same with you and yours PureCountry. By the time we get the essential stuff done for the summer it's already winter
I guess I need to attend a course to learn better time management - but when will I find the time
Both of your places are on my people to visit list. I drove right past PC's place this summer but didn't have the time to stop. :? While on the tour Rkaiser and Hillsdown might be fun to visit. I run into Rkaiser's sister fairly often so at least I get updates on him once in a while. Hoping also to meet Silver an Gcreek some day soon. Should only be a 2500 mile tour.

All of you are welcome here anytime for a coffee, or a beer or some good ole Canadian whisky. :tiphat:

Be careful what you wish for.....our bulls are on test at Olds College with RKaiser's and our other consignors. I want to go down and see how they're gaining in a couple weeks, so maybe I'll have to schedule some extra time in the itinerary for visiting.....and whisky.

Just give me a little notice so I can get the maid to clean the house and stock the bar and let me know what your mix of preference is .. :p

But seriously I would love to meet all of you in person and you are very welcome at my humble home. So most definitely if you are in the Pine Lake area you should stop in ... :)

Maybe I'll catch you at a Rebel's game-Cullen Morin is a good friend of mine-his Dad and I are good friends and I coached his little brother Zane. He's having a good year with the Rebels-about the smartest D-Man you'll see play in any league.
