I guess the DOJ says Bush and his AG were not briefed on Arizona's Operation Wide receiver.

The Justice Department has retracted a second statement made to the Senate Judiciary Committee. During a hearing last week, Attorney General Eric Holder claimed that his predecessor, then-Attorney General Michael Mukasey, had been briefed about gunwalking in Operation Wide Receiver. Now, the Department is retracting that statement and claiming Holder "inadvertently" made that claim to the Committee. The Department's letter failed to apologize to former Attorney General Mukasey for the false accusation.

The Justice Department released documents Thursday on the Bush-era Wide Receiver gun-walking operation that suggest the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was aware that guns were likely flowing into Mexico but allowed it to continue in the hopes of penetrating deeply into U.S.-Mexico gun trafficking networks.


DOJ's documents were delivered in response to House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa's subpoena on Operation Fast and Furious and were also made available to the press.

An August 2006 briefing memo on Wide Receiver, which was conducted from 2006 to 2007, shows that "there is currently sufficient documentation to conclude" a criminal case from the investigation.

In addition, the memo suggests that it was "highly unlikely," due to the limited recovery of firearms, that weapons had not already entered gun trafficking conduits to Mexico.

Regardless, ATF decided to forge ahead with the investigation. Additional documents indicate that they did so in an attempt to infiltrate deeper into criminal gun trafficking organizations operating along the U.S.-Mexico border.

By the end of 2006, the targets of the investigation had purchased 181 firearms. Hundreds of firearms were sold to the targets of the investigation before it ended in 2007.

The Bush operation was 200 guns, was done with the knowledge of the Mexican Government and was called off in 2007 PRE-Obama when it failed to work.

The Fast and Furious Operation was 2000 guns, done WITHOUT the knowledge of the Mexican Government, end with a whisleblower, and resulted in the death of a Border Agent.

And Holder wants everyone to believe some guy in Arizona took illegal actions in a foreign country without the Department of Justice or Obama knowing anything about the operations. If some guy in Arizona illegally did this why is it the whisleblower is the only one being punished?

And forget the fact Obama knew nothing as he is a micro manager to the point he personally tags the victims of his drone attacks. Of Course Right after he has a chance to think about who is next out on the golf course. He is so involved he would have everyone believe he was with Seal Team Six taking out Bin Ladin if there wasn't a picture of him in GOLF ATTIRE sitting in the Top Secret Situation Roon watching the operation being carried out. Then you have him asserting executive privilage on something that for 18 months he claimed he knew nothing about.
