Iraqi Parliament Members testified to Congress that they, and 138 other members they carried a signed letter for, were opposed to these secret meetings/treaty being made by Maliki, and that it was being done unconstitutionally and illegally under Iraq's Constitution- which requires all international treaties to be ratified by Parliament...
And
US Congressmen brought up the same issue against Bush and his Gang of Ali Baba's and the fact that King George was working again in secret- trying to do this without Congressional oversight and involvement and without ratification which is required under the Constitution....

Bush may be forced to withdraw all troops from Iraq this year

The UN authorization that allows US troops in Iraq expires at the end of this year, so the US has three options:

Get a new authorization from the UN, which is not very likely.
Get the Iraqi government to sign an agreement allowing the US to stay in Iraq.
Remove all troops from Iraq (!)

The Bush administration has been pursuing option #2, but despite a virtually hand-picked government in Iraq and an attempt to get this agreement signed in relative secrecy, the effort is starting to backfire spectacularly. Initially, the agreement that the US tried to get signed was stunningly lopsided. It tried to establish over 200 bases in Iraq, gave immunity not only to all US soldiers in Iraq, but also to all private contractors, gave the US control of Iraqi airspace, allowed the US to arrest any Iraqi for any (or no) reason, and several other provisions that the Iraqi government has now rejected.

At this point, if no agreement can be reached, the US will have no choice but to withdraw our troops by the end of this year. Wouldn’t that be ironic? For perhaps the first time, the incompetence of the Bush administration would be responsible for actually doing something that the American people actually want.

I don't believe troops will be withdrawn from Iraq while Bush is in office. He just couldn't stand that. He wants to leave, claiming "progress is being made", and put the blame for the civil war that likely will follow withdrawal on the next president. I think Obama will bring the troops home as quickly as possible. Let Iraq's neighbors take care of any civil war that might break out. McCain? He seems to want to leave them there until no one is killing them. But he won't say how long that will take. Nor does he say where the money and troops will come from to "stay the course."

If they can't get something worked out with the Iraqi government, the UN might step in and save Bush's behind. But they're not too fond of him either.

My niece is in the marines and she may be deployed in January......... to Iran.

Maybe they'll need most of them for Iran?

The big central banks are broke OT..... they have to write down 5 trillion by August 29, 2008 in accordance with Basel II accounting standards......... the global elite are gonna want a war as that is how they make their money (they play both sides of the fence loaning to both parties) and they figured long ago that after a third world war they could implement a one world global government where they would control governments, people, economies and food.

Congress will never quit funding the wars as many of them own/speculate on the stocks of the defense contractors to which our government gives bids.
