Jeb Bush: Immigration is 'not a felony' but 'an act of love'

Posted by
CNN's Dana Davidsen

(CNN) - Jeb Bush said the debate over immigration reform needs to move past derisive rhetoric describing illegal immigrants.

The former Florida governor said in an interview Sunday in College Station, Texas, that people who come to the United States illegally are often looking for opportunities to provide for their families that are not available in their home countries.

"Yes, they broke the law, but it's not a felony. It's an act of love, it's an act of commitment to your family," Bush told Fox News host Shannon Bream at town hall event at the George Bush Presidential Library Center.

"I honestly think that is a different kind of crime, that there should be a price paid, but it shouldn't rile people up that people are actually coming to this country to provide for their families," he said.

"I think we need to kind of get beyond the harsh political rhetoric to a better place."

You'all been wrong saying bad things about these illegal immigrants... Littlest Shrub says you're supposed to treat all these illegals with love and not look at them as criminals...

I wouldn't vote for Jesus Christ if he was running as a democrat...but not every "R" gets a pass or a vote...Christie, McCain, Boehner, etc.

they are criminals..

but most of US would have a different opinion of the hard working illegals if Obama would working harder at deporting those who are criminals

EDINBURG, TEXAS--27 illegal immigrants and convicted sex offenders were apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol agents in February. 15 illegal immigrants who are members of violent street gangs were also taken into custody that month. The arrests happened in the Rio Grande Valley area.

Two additional men, one convicted for murder and another convicted for voluntary man slaughter, were also arrested in the area that month.

11 of the arrested gang members belong to the Los Angeles-based Mara Salvatrucha gang, better known as MS-13. The four others men were members of the 18th Street gang.

Disturbingly, the majority of the illegal immigrants arrested for sexual crimes committed such assaults against children. Various charges against the individuals include felony child sexual contact, lewd acts with a child, sexual exploitation of a child, and sexual assault of a child.

An increasing number of individuals accused of sex crimes including children have been apprehended near the United States/Mexican border.

yet Obama works to give them more "opportunities" and little Bush wants to do the same to get liberals votes..

The Revolving Door
Deportations of Criminal Illegal Immigrants

Out of the 188,382 criminal aliens deported in 2011, at least 86,699, or 46 percent, had been deported earlier and had illegally returned to the United States. We know this because 86,699 is the number of criminal alien deportations resulting from "reinstatement of final removal orders" ("reinstatement" for short) for 2011.14 A deportation by reinstatement can be initiated when an alien departed under order of removal and subsequently is found to have illegally reentered the United States.

Since illegal reentry to the United States by a deportee is a felony under federal law (Title 8 U.S.C. 1326), the 43,307 must have been deported again without being charged with the reentry felony because they were not considered "criminal" deportees in the 2011 data.

Data related to immigration offenders in the federal justice system for fiscal year 2010, the most recent year for which data are available,17 reveal that only 23,862 individuals were charged with illegal reentry in federal court that year

well that takes care of few weeks illegal border crossings..

There are still a few elderly people around who are yellow dog. These old timers have values, just like my grandparents did. Some of them clam up when the mud starts slinging and they are out of touch with things.

My paternal grandaddy once told me the only time he voted for a Republican president was when he voted for Nixon, "That turned out to be a mistake" No way he would vote D in this day and time.
