Rep. Kucinich introduces Bush impeachment resolution

June 9, 2008

FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
WASHINGTON---- Rep. Dennis Kucinich, a former Democratic presidential contender, said Monday he wants the House to consider a resolution to impeach President Bush.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi consistently has said impeachment was ''off the table.''

Kucinich, D-Ohio, read his proposed impeachment language in a floor speech. He contended Bush deceived the nation and violated his oath of office in leading the country into the Iraq war.

Kucinich introduced a resolution last year to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney. That resolution was killed, but only after Republicans initially voted in favor of taking up the measure to force a debate.

some people are just not worth the air they breathe this jackass needs to realize that had Gore won, the terorists would have hit us, got a few verbal threats, and then hit us again and again.

he ought to impeach the entire Democratic party for turning thier backs on our soldiers, undermining the military , and basic treason.
only difference between al quaida and the Dems, is we vote for one of them and shoot the other. ought to shoot both!

Well by golly you would think you socialists could come up with something new. After all many of you socialists were calling for impeachment even before he took oath of office.

Yes but they choose not to remember that, because it was stupid then like it is now!
Given even the smallest chance that the resulotion was to be upheld Bush would be out of office before it could happen given the democrats idea of good government be investigating major league basebball and naming post offices not making thing happen that has any real importance!

That is what the democrats will be famous for!

When are they sending a black helicopter to pick you up to testify?

Typical twit mentality...wasting time they could be doing something useful (which seldom happens) to beat the dead horse some more.

I'll bet this is giving you more effect than Viagra ever could! Remember, consult your doctor if you have an erection lasting over 4 hours!

You have to understand, if the Dems do something...like actually work on their surrendering nanny agenda, or introduce tax increases, before the election, it probably won't be pretty. This gives them sort of a diversion.

I am sure he is basing it on the fact that Gore's mentor was attacked more than any other President in history by Terrorist but he did nothing! We can only assume that Gore would have did the same, that was how he was taught! Not to mention he is a bigger pacifist than Clinton.

It was funny as heck last year when this happened too!

GOP turns impeachment resolution against Dems
By Jonathan E. Kaplan

House Republicans on Tuesday nearly forced Democratic leaders to vote on a resolution to impeach Vice President Cheney.

Anti-war presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) introduced a privileged resolution, used to circumvent the committee process, to get his impeachment measure to the House floor.

The vote to kill Kucinch’s privileged resolution began as a largely party-line affair, but halfway through the vote, Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) persuaded Republican leaders to get rank-and-file GOP lawmakers to change their votes to force the debate.

At one point, the vote to table the motion stood at 246-165. Once Republicans began switching their votes, momentum swung the other way. When the vote stood at 205-206, some Democrats began switching their votes.

The vote to kill Kucinich’s resolution finally failed 162-251, giving Republicans the opportunity to watch Democrats debate whether to impeach Cheney — a debate in which many liberal Democrats were more than willing to engage.

House Republicans clearly enjoyed watching Democratic leaders squirm during the series of votes, which lasted more than one hour.

“The determination was made that if Democrats are going to waste time and resources with a resolution like this, then it should be thoroughly debated,” said Brian Kennedy, the spokesman for Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), adding that the charges against Cheney were “ludicrous.”

Nadeam Elshami, a spokesman for Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), accused Republicans of “wasting time.”

“They’re voting to impeach the vice president. What does that say about the support for President Bush in the Republican Conference?” he added, trying to put the best face on a situation Democratic leaders had wanted to avoid.

What happened next exposed the ideological fissures in the Democratic Caucus. Kucinich stared down Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), who has been critical of the war but does not want to get bogged down in a political impeachment quagmire. Pelosi has taken the same stance.

Hoyer and Democratic leaders succeeded by a 218-194 vote to get a majority of Democrats to stop further debate. The House then voted by the same margin to send Kucinich’s resolution to the House Judiciary Committee, where it will be left to languish and die.

McClellan to Testify Before House in CIA Leak Case

Monday, June 9, 2008 10:06 PM

WASHINGTON - President Bush's former spokesman, Scott McClellan, will testify before a House committee next week about whether Vice President Dick Cheney ordered him to make misleading public statements about the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity.

McClellan will testify publicly and under oath before the House Judiciary Committee on June 20 about the White House's role in the leak and its response, his attorneys, Michael and Jane Tigar, said on Monday.

In his new book, "What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception," McClellan said he was misled by others, possibly including Cheney, about the role of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby in the leak. McClellan has said publicly that Bush and Cheney "directed me to go out there and exonerate Scooter Libby."

What, no updates on this critical piece of legislation? LMAO.

In that case, I'll give an update:

The Dems hope that it will die a quiet death in committee - because they don't have the balls to do anything about it.

A deal was made by Pelosi-and she's keeping it- and I've got to give her credit for that-altho I'd like to see Bush brought to Justice for all his misdeeds and criminal acts- this country is the most divided I've ever seen it (I think even more than the 70's) and we don't need an impeachment to further split it...
Some of the Repubs in Congress are wising up and getting some balls and starting to help rein the Bumbling Fool in for the next 7 months-- but as Lou Dobbs says- we can't get rid of these fools soon enough.....

US House of Represenatives Turns Back Bush Impeachment Effort
By Dan Robinson
Washington
11 June 2008

The House of Representatives has blocked an effort by a Democratic lawmaker to impeach President Bush for his decisions and actions on Iraq, and other issues. Dan Robinson reports from Capitol Hill, Democratic leaders in Congress have opposed any effort to impeach, drawing criticism from some of the most vocal critics of the president.
---------------------
The resolution was brought to the floor Monday under privileged status, requiring the chamber to act on it in within two days.

The House voted 251 to 166 to send it to the House Judiciary Committee, effectively killing the effort because it is unlikely to undergo hearings before President Bush leaves office.

Since taking control of Congress, Democratic leaders, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in particular, have declined to support impeachment saying it would only be divisive and interfere with their agenda, a position reiterated Wednesday by a Pelosi spokesman.

no, there are none. that is why they wanted to not count the military vote when Gore tried to steal the election from Bush.

so Bush is not the best we ever had....he was better than the alternatives at the time. and 25 years from now he will be looked at as a great President. that is assuming Obama don't get elected and sell us down the river.
