Is your point R2 that ever party has a level of negativity and some don't like the plan or are you saying that you know everyone in each party and they all dislike the plan? Have you asked Lieberman?McCain?

Regardless of where you stand politically, there is disappointment and pessimism about the plan.
The dems were already building up pessimism before they'd ever heard the plan. They were determined to find something wrong with it.

I guess we could go with the wonderful plan that the intelligent Democratic leadership put forth. What was that plan again R2?

I have been a supporter from day one of this war-- but this speech brought back memories of the many I heard during the 60's and 70's- and sent chills down my back....One day we're winning- the next we're not, one day we have plenty of troops- then calling up more troops... And now we're going to intermesh US troops into Iraqui companies and squads under Iraqui leadership  :( .....

I was disappointed by GW- sounded very flat and with little positive emotion.
I hope I'm just having pessimistic flashbacks- but this same speach was given by Kennedy, LBJ, and Nixon.....

I hear tomorrow that Secretary of Defense Gates will announce a large buildup plan for the total military......

What I'd like to really see is for the President to announce that if the Iraqi's don't want to run their country and their continues to be infighting , on the 4th of July, we're going to raise Old Glory over Bagdad and it'll be another U.S. territory. Oil included. Iran is next.

What's your solution OT? Run home? Lower the troop numbers where our troops are more vulnerable? What?

No- but I heard these exact same words for years in Vietnam- and we know what happened there....

I truly feel we have to send in enough troops right away ( If it isn't already too late--and 40,000 more ain't even close to enough) and change the rules of engagement- so that the troops can again go back to a war mode instead of a police mode- so they can conquer and occupy- or we will get nowhere....Either take over the country or get the hell out...

Appears to me that this is now a politician/media/bleeding hearts run war-- and we shouldn't have our troops in one of those AGAIN....And I'm kind of like Black Jack Pershing when he refused to put troops into the French companies-- I think US troops should fight as US troops- not as loan outs to foreign leadership.....

you make many good points. and I have thought from day one that this war will be lost if we try to fight it from Washington.... let it be ran from Iraq, the guys on the ground know what needs done...let them do their job!

I was sickened this afternoon by Pelosi. she was bitching about the announcement by Bush was not cooperation, but just information...and that was not working together.
