While saying a solution is as simple as: Just "Buy American"

I spent an hour or so looking for a site that had just American products on it... I didn't find much...and most required you to sign up before browsing,... :?

Maybe it's time we as Americans actually "force" retailers to offer American products...

I found "Shop for American"
http://www.shopforamerica.com/home.php?source=htba

I even bought a Christmas present from there... $39.00
https://www.shopforamerica.com/product.php?productid=17558229

The same product is at Walmart... for $44

Years ago I was looking into starting a store that only sells American made products. There are plenty out there, you just have to look for them. I will look and see if I can find some links I had to products and post it later.

I think small store on a mall that only sells American made products could be a success. People want to buy they just don't want the hassles to look at every tag. If I was a manufacturer of an American made product I would engulf the package in an American flag on the box and advertise it big time.

We need a Made in USA labeling system that is large and bold.

If it's made well in North America...yes I would buy it.

But, lets us not forget that just because it may say , Made in America, does not assure it's quality!

If a ' thing' is made much better and happens to come from Japan as opposed to an American made " thing" that I see as sub standard...I'm going for the quality.

America ( as we mentally refer to North America) remember is 3 countries......Mexico, United States and Canada!!

And remember that some of our fine loyal true blue Patriot politicians like Pelosi, Burns, Delay, Goodlatte, Gonzales and Abrahmoff have worked hard to keep it so their loyal pocket stuffers foreign goods- produced on US soil- can then be marked with/or passed off as a US product....

Like the products made on the U.S. Mauriana Islands by the Communist Chinese in sweat shops (Pelosi, Burns, Delay, etal fought any US minimum wage or health. welfare, or working conditions laws from covering this US territory because it might interfer with their own "investments")-- or the meat from anywhere in the world that is being fraudulently passed off by the Tysons/Cargills/etals as US....

I would never expect any one to buy a shoddy product...

what I found interesting is that ten to twenty years ago the only thing from china was cheap wooden toys... and ironically that seemed to be the only toys I could find still being made in this country...were wooden toys with high prices... :( :???:

But if consumers demand better American products with their dollar... companies will follow...

That is where my nickels go, with all possibilities. There are a few things you simply cannot get. I tend to plod along doing the same routines week after week so it makes it easier. But now comes Christmas. Got to buy a Bose Wave Radio for the boss lady and I hear it is American made. I need to find out for certain. Yes it is very expensive too.

I was surprised at the lack of web sites that you could actually shop at and find products...

I was even more surprised that at the one I did find, I found the exact same product at Walmarts site for more...

There is a "Great opportunity" available for an American company to step in.... kinda a New generation Sears and Roebuck...

"From its mail order beginnings, the company grew to become the largest retailer in the United States by the mid-20th century, and its catalogs became famous."...and then Sears re-focused and crumbled...

I always do a little extra searching for american made products. I know that we have to compromises on products. The biggest one that I have serious trouble is Japanese products..............somehow it is hard to overlook the way they treated our POW's.........even after these years.

That was one of the reasons I stopped buying from Jc Penny as I could not find anything that wasn't imported.

Sometimes, these foreign products look like it is okay, ...... until you wash it and all the thread seams come out.....

My great nieces may not get any toys from me this year as I am NOT buying any toys from China.

One good way to slow down our trade with China is to inspect everything and charge for that inspection!

It would get rid of a lot of problems real quick and make our nation more secure.

While reading an article on economyincrisis.org about toys made in usa........ there is a website www.americansworking.com that lists companies who still "made in America" (for anyone that may be interested in buying American).

I did follow a few links.. the difficult part is that most such as this link http://www.armstrongtools.com/wheretobuy/index.jsp
went to another and it didn't work.. but I did see that they sell to fastenal and I have a local distributer near me..

This is okey for bigger planned purchases but not many of US have the time it would take to find these hidden American products.... especially when it comes to toys..

When I am shopping for a child and don't have a clue what a child wants... the common method is to trudge to the big box store.. or go online and find what is sold out and give them money to buy that... but children at Christmas should get gifts instead of money..

If we relied on American toys,... so far this is about what is offered...

Maybe I'm being cynical but I think we should demand better..

I did go back and went through every toy link and while it won't make every one happy I did find many toys that could make most little children happy..

Notable are
Fat Brains
Guillows
Knex
Step 2

there were some that I really liked but the prices were really out of reach... the Trucks were up around $500 to $600 as they were new/vintage and the play area activity toys were priced and designed for a commercial market from $300 to several thousand, so while cool I thought they were out of most peoples price range... I would definatly recommend the site, despite the ducky...

My only real complaint is not being able to shop all the toys with out following multiple links and most are not available online...
