Haymaker are you eligible for payment through the new farm bill for drought years? Offered through the FSA? If so are you going to take them?

No, I don't like guvment progrms, have no use for them come with too many strangs attached.
good luck

Wow what strings are those? Maybe you should become more informed on this. Do you take a tax return or let the gov keep it?

What are you some guvernment free loader, I have a CPA firm handle my tax buisness because the government passed a law that makes me, don't mean I hafta like it.
Good luck

I guess I am and everyone I know is a government free loader. I work pay taxes etc. If the law makers couldn't get their butts in gear and get a farm bill going when they should have I will take what they give me. $124 per cow for 2012 thanks to the drought. I for one am not too proud to take it.

Once again this is why I am not running my own place!! Every time one of you guys participates in a government program, my taxes go up. At some point, you have to say NO, but I don't see that happening any time soon!! I totally agree with Haymaker. Either make it on your own, or don't do it.
You all tell me that I don't have to be in the government programs. That is true, but I can't compete with the rest of you that are being subsidized by Uncle Sam.
Back in the late 70's early 80's, the US was about to go to war with the USSR, because of government subsidies to the ag industry. Now look at us.

I'm sorry you feel that way but if you think that is going to lower taxes you are crazy. If I don't take someone else less deserving is. I guess some of you don't live in a poor area where everyone that is too lazy to work draws a check for nothing. There are plenty of hard working farmers/ranchers in our area that almost lost a life savings in the 2012 drought. This money will get pumped back into the local economy and turn over several times.
