Went out and helped my neighbors west of me vaccinate their calves. They have them contracted to an outfit out in eastern Utah. We vaccinated, weighed and tagged 70 calves last night. Loading the alley.

My friend John who is the bovine superintendent and my kids helping.

The calves averaged 580 on the steers and 535 on the heifers. I thought they are a nice uniform bunch of calves. They are getting $1.13 on the steers and $1.08 on the heifers. The big salebarn in Utah was giving .98 on 550 to 600 weights last week so they are satisfied.

Pretty weaner. Gets on the truck next Friday.

They run with a neighbor who runs a Red Angus bull. Looks like he covered atleast one of thiers!

I took the kids and they sure are great helpers. Cal would bring calves up to the alley and they'd help keep the alleyway movin'. John and i were busy on the other end on the scale and vaccine guns. If ya leave your kids home they won't learn to love this life and how to help. Plus it teaches Dad patience!!!!!

More teenage bovines fixin' to move out to college soon.

Olson's run angus bulls on crossbred cows. A little charlois, tarantaise and even some simmetal. They run a little bigger framed cattle than i do but they have a lot of meadows on their place and a nice winter permit on BLM ground. And by golly, they are their cows and they can do as they please!
They are great neighbors and their family roots go way back in this part of the country.

Then we went up on the mountain to pick chokecherrys. Some years like this one, those cherry get loaded. Fun was had by all!!!!

Reach! And as a bonus, we have zero bears to watch out for while pilfering berrys. On a down note we have no bears to watch out for while harvesting pre-bottled jam!

Now that's what makes life grand! A family that plays together stays together! Purple hands and happy hearts!!!!!

Although if ya put your boy in the dryer people may yell at ya! Just so we are clear, he put himself in there and lucky for us couldn't reach the on button! By the way, my wife put up 19 bottles of chokecherry jelly. Bring the bread and head this way!
