News Alert: Fiorina wins Calif. GOP nomination for U.S. Senate
12:08 AM EDT Wednesday, June 9, 2010
--------------------

Carly Fiorina, the former chief executive of Hewlett-Packard, has won the Republican Senate primary in California, the Associated Press projects. She will face Sen. Barbara Boxer, who won Tuesday's Democratic primary, in November.

Heres a candidate the Californians can support against Boxer--- and from her past history fits the California political world perfectly... Already has plenty of "bankrupting" experience... And about the same "business" experience GW had ... :p

When Fiorina became CEO in July, 1999, HP's stock price was $52 per share, and when she left 5 1/2 years later in February, 2005, it was $21 per share—a loss of over 60% of the stock's value.

For comparison- During this same time period, HP competitor Dell's stock price increased from $37 to $40 per share.

And if the company stock had doubled during the same period, you'd be accusing her of backroom dealings.

If business experience was what you look for in a politician, you wouldn't have voted for obama.

Did you read in the other thread what I wrote about bureaucracy, and how it can happen in a Corporation the same as Government?

It's not that Wall Street has any doubts about Fiorina. Merrill Lynch analyst Steven Milunovich called her "an excellent pick," in a July 19 research note. And Bear Stearns analyst Andy Neff upgraded the stock that day on enthusiasm at her appointment. Analysts believe Fiorina, a former Lucent exec, will bring new ideas and a fresh outlook to a company considered somewhat stodgy and weighed down by bureaucracy.

Dell is managed totally different. It lacks the degree of bureaucracy that HP is managed under.

HP, when it hit the dot.com bubble didn't have the latitude to react as Dell did.

Much the same as new regulations at this time will not give the economy the latitude to react.

Thanks for making the point about the inefficiencies that follows bureaucracy.

That HP lady packed off jobs to foreign mfgs'.....she's prob the LAST thing CA needs right now.

And Barbara Boxer has been in the Senate for how long? 1992

So she would have stopped these jobs from going overseas, correct?

California has been losing jobs to other States. It's the excessive taxes that drive them out.

Barbara Boxer is the last thing CA needs right now.

So, Boxer has been there a long time.....that is not the issue here.

And with all this talk of " throw them all out"....look at it this way.

Many people are unhappy with their medical care/providers/whatever.....so le'ts apply the same thinking.

Throw out all the Dr's and Ins. companies/coverage....then what?

If throw out everyone...you are going to have no one left to ' drive the bus'..

You seem to be quiet the snake charmer here Hypo....you touch things just enough but not enough to get dirty........

There used to be someone that used to post here that said the same thing. Who you going to replace the incumbents with?

Well, it's obvious that there are individuals that are willing to take their place.

Look at it this way. This whole economic collapse is blamed on the bankers and wall street by Democrats, correct?

Do you know what Barbara Boxer did, before she got into politics? Stock Broker, that's correct.

I wonder if her hands are a wee bit dirty?

"Fiorina worked various secretarial and receptionist positions, including a stint at Hewlett-Packard as a temporary worker through Kelly Services. She later worked as a receptionist at real estate firm"

She joined AT&T in 1980 as a management trainee

looks like she started at the bottom.. and "worked" her way up..

American jobs have been steadily shipped overseas for the last few decades regardless of who was president and regardless of who held power in congress.

Anyone who denies this has their head up their ass.

So she agrees with obama that immigrants are needed but that it should be done in an open and transparent manner, not to mention legal and you have a problem with that?

In more ways than one. He says "Neocon" as a if it is bad thing and then votes for liberalism. Go figure.

Neoconservatism is a right-wing political philosophy that emerged in the United States of America, and which supports using American economic and military power to bring liberalism, democracy, and human rights to other countries.[1][2][3] Consequently the term is chiefly applicable to certain Americans and their strong supporters. In economics, unlike paleoconservatives and libertarians, neoconservatives are generally comfortable with a welfare state; and, while rhetorically supportive of free markets, they are willing to interfere for overriding social purposes.[4]

So if I understand him correctly, he's upset with the Neocons, because they have moved left on the political spectrum from true conservatives, so he votes for a President that is the most left of the left.

And expects "Change"

Neocon to me anymore is almost synonomous with "corporate fascism"..

They have forgot that the corporations and corporate leaders can be crooks too- and will take as much advantage as possible to profiteer- caring less what effect it has on this country...
This was quite well shown with the Bush Bust that came about thru deregulation/nonregulation/and refusal to enforce regulation/oversight- allowing the Fatcats to play roulette with the earnings of this county ...

We're now seeing it with the Minerals Management Service- which has been reported by the OIG as a fiasco and plaqued with corruption for the past 10 years....

They need to take some lesson from a good old Republican President:

I believe in corporations. They are indispensable instruments of our modern civilization; but I believe that they should be so supervised and so regulated that they shall act for the interest of the community as a whole.

Neocon to me means the same thing. Imagine that.

And they had to move left of centre to get to corporate fascism. So how well is voting for a President that has already progressed far left of centre going to turn out?

You do realize that fascism was a progression left from liberalism, don't you?
