camera question

When I download pictures from my camera, even if I have already downloaded some that are on the card, they all download again. Used
to be, only the new ones downloaded. What am I doing wrong? I'm
getting a lot of pictures stored on my computer that are duplicates.
HELP, please!!

I don't know about your procedures, but each time I download pictures from my camera I always delete them from the camera so that I don't end up with your problem. I can either delete them as I download, or wait and go into the camera and delete them before I take any more.
Good luck... hope this helps.

Thanks. I realize that is something I can do, but for the longest time,
it didn't matter what I had on my camera card, if it had been downloaded
earlier, it would only download the photos that were new. :???:

FH, whenever I find my computer/camera/tv or anything digital is working differently it is usually because Mr nr has been fooling around with it "improving" it. Drives me wild!!

Depends which program ya use;
if ya go to preferences or settings, there should be something on there about 'do you want to import duplicates'. It also should ask you if you want to delete photos from camera.

If none of that happens,

get a Mac! :p

Much easier! 8)

I am no expert, but your computer program should ask you before you do the transfer what you want to do. Somewhere there should be some settings that can be changed. Something like: Only download pictures since the last transfer and it should also ask for actions such as: remove images after transfer. On my computer software these must be set before you actually do the transfer. It won't let you do it after the transfer.

Mine does say, "delete pictures after importing?" but that seems to
be all. I'll dig deeper and see what I can find. Thanks for all the help.

That's what I do. Delete pictures after importing. That way my camera card is clean when I go out and take the next batch of pictures.

Also...just a lil somethin I do when I "import" On the title line...I always put the date first. That way all my picture folders in "My Pictures" are in date order. If somethin in those pictures is somethin that I think I'll wanna go back to look at or need to find quickly then after the date...I will type somethin....like

"2010-05-29 Barrel race Liberty" that way if we are talkin about the run AManda made there...I can easily find it without havin to remember the exact date of the race. Or cow workin...or a trip we go on...etc. But by puttin the date first...it keeps them all in order.
