I found these horses on a rescue site I am sure the prices would be negotiable so give it a try.

http://www.theanimalifarm.com/ go to horses that need help. Don't know anything about the horses or the farm but you might be able to get some two for ones cheap. The prices listed are high for a guy who was going to go to auction so I think if ya had cash he would be will to talk terms.... Price at auction is .33-.69 cents at the moment so.....

There is a heck of a lot of money being made by these so called non profit groups!
Dont get sucked into this. I looked at one scrub mare that wouldnt bring $300 at an auction and he wanted $1500! Save it my behind, if that mare and foal were any indication he is asking way more for what he could ever get locally for those pairs. You can darn well bet he never paid that much for them.
Look at how thin those horses are  Some people should not be allowed to own a horse. Its like he is holding them ransome, pay me the bucks and you can save the horse. Well they are right about one thing. If he takes them to auction they will sell for little or nothing, certainly not $1500 a pair for a half starved horses with no papers!
Thousands of unwanted horses are slaughtered every month. Good horses to, papered QH colts with nothing wrong with them. I would shoot a horse before I would let it go to the packers.
If I couldnt afford to feed a horse I would give it away. If I couldnt give it away I would shoot it before I starved it
That guy should be ashamed of himself

I just watched a deal on RFD TV about Premarin Mares. A lady in Arizona saving mares that were used to make the hormone replacements for women before the ban on the drugs. Now there's (they said) hundreds or thousands coming out of the Dakota's and Canada. I just wondered if that might be where these came from.

Pregnate Mare Urine or PMU horses. Thats more than likely what these are. But thenm again they might not be. Lots of people breeding horses that should not be breed. But you see this guy went out and bought these horses looking to make a buck.
He is trying to guilt people and take advantage of their good nature so that he can make money off these horses. Plus look at the condition of those horses!
Look I hate the horse meat industry. I think it should be outlawed.
But thats not what this is about.
What non profit means is that they get big salaries but the non profit corp or limited company that they work for doesnt make anything after expenses. Example new dually diesel truck to haul the $70,000 horse trailer around with.

Hi Roper,
I think the "rescue" is located in California and the farmer is in Alberta. Not to sure. The rescue may have put the prices on the horses. That's why I figured if someone local would bypass the rescue they might be able to get the horses out of there for next to nothing. Hard to say.

Im not sure who put the price on them but there are all kinds of these "so called" rescue outfits that are based in AB. The one NW of Vulcan is the one I know the best.
These outfits are all about money. They misrepresent what they are doing and the reality is they are not really saving any horses. Really they should just outright call themselves what they are, a regular horse business.
It was the same deal here a couple of years ago with that Newfie who did the cross Canada mission to Alberta to save all the horses from slaughter.
Lots of people with good intentions donated money and it was a complete sham/con.
I would have to write a boo on here to tell the whole story.
Basically they never saved a horse. The donations paid for a cross country holiday trip for the pair. Last I heard he was trying to get government grant money to write a book about his spin on the adventure.
Just my oppinion anyways
