Canada Quarantines Possible BSE Farm; Industry Worried

Tam, "In "unless it is all tested" do you mean US cattle too? as the OIE rules state rules for imported products can not differ from those used on domestic produced."

The OIE also mentions a little thing called an effective feed ban. Effective feed ban means you don't find positives born 5 years after the ban was put in effect. Do you really want us to follow the OIE?

Tam, "A better question is how long is it going to be before US consumers groups start asking, with all the trade in cattle and feed we have done over the years why is the Canadian testing protocol finding cases and the US testing system is not? How much long are consumers going to accept your beef without testing?"

The USDA says BSE is virtually non-existant in the US. Are you saying consumer groups have reason to question the USDA? R-CALF is supposed to accept their judgement without question, why don't you expect everybody (including yourself) to do the same?

No reason to test them OT,

How long a time period and how many more positives do you think the Canadian consumer will accept without testing... :???:

I don't think USDA will get the OTM rule past the consumers groups now unless it is all tested...

If Canada doesn't voluntarily start testing all OTM's I think the consumers and producers will get Congress to again block the OTM rule IF USDA even tries to go thru with it...Then Canada can do what ever it wants- but not import OTM's into the US....I wouldn't want to force you to do anything against your will or your New World Orders beliefs   ...

I love it when you start throwing out all those initials OIE, WTO, NAFTA, GATT,---- RAT and BS would fit better....Which countries follow any of them? Nowhere do I remember signing on to the New World Order....

Your screaming intitials during the M-COOL hearings when Canada showed its fear of identifying and distinquishing its beef was what caused much of the animosity now existing between the two countries and their producers....

Gotta go back to swathing before it hits 100 again.....

Now if you only had honest feed suppliers - eh :???:

I just wonder how long ranchers will keep cooperating with the test program if the positives keep piling up...This may lead to mandatory testing of OTM's at slaughter...

OT- The Canadian consumer can see we are doing a damn good job finding these BSE cows. Beef consumption in this country increased after May 20/2003 because our people know we have a quality product.

As agman would say, how much did demand increase?
