36 days ago Canada called a federal election...today we vote...I'm still voting for the same party I started with 36 days ago.

My observations here in political is.....pretty dang close to 100% of you Americans will do the same. Vote for the party you started with. All the argueing, name calling, brow beating hasn't changed anybodys opinoun {IMO}Your elections are sooooo dragged out, aren't you tired of it by vote day?? I know I'm getting tired of it....would just be a nice change to be able to read negative-positive posts about your new president.... :) And to see where our two countries lie in the political siblinghood...

Just got back from voting. First time that I had to show ID because I never knew anyone at the polling station. I guess that's progress and I did meet some new folks.

When all this started months ago some of the new prospects lifted my eyebrows. They opened their mouths and I was let down when their true colors began to show.

Local election decisions and some state level, have been recent. I could have cast my presidential vote long ago.

EVERYBODY in Canada has to show ID today. Its a new law, plus a piece of paper with your address on...the brown ballot thingy worked for me. At work this morning I was helping some of the seniors dig out old drivers licences...passports etc.Yikes that was a fun job. They weren't happy about it because..Oh they know me,but not this yr doesn't help. But everyone of them voted. The polling station was in the Lodge here in town and there were huge line-ups from the time it opened.... :D

I will be heading out this afternoon to vote, lets hope that we get a majority government so we don't have an election every time they don't agree..

I too am voting for the same person that I had planned on when the election was first called.

Our leaders are picked LONG before an election is called...its done by party and any Canadian can belong to any if they want to help pick the party leader.

Just a question for those of you that have voted...

Was there a big turn out at your stations ? I went to ours where there should be about 5000 voting there and I was the only one in the hall. This was around 1:30pm.

Asked the lady (who happened to be my neighbor) if there has been a good turn out and she said it has been very quiet. :(

I hope the rest of the eligible voters in the west are not as complacent as it will be a real b#tch for us if the Libs get in...

If you haven't yet please get off your butts and VOTE !!!!!!!!!

And yes it was a little strange showing my ID to someone who's kids I have house sit for me once and a while..

Elwapo I agree 100% and it is sad as we end up paying for it all through our hard earned tax dollars.
I would rather have a minority conservative government than a lib or NDP government any day though..Imho..

At 2;30 only 49 out of a possible 125 had been in to vote. Quiet day in Big Beaver even if everybody made it. :)

I used my Firearms Acquisition Certificate, FAC for my ID. Thought it was fitting.

You Canadians must be a bunch of racists. There's clearly only one reason to make voters show ID. And that reason is to create an obstacle to voting for minority, poor and elderly voters. How could you let something like that become law?

What the hell does showing an ID have to do with race?? I can pretty much look at you and get a general idea of your race.....and sometimes your sex. lolol.....Nobody is offended when they have to show an ID to buy cigs. or liquor, cash a check or even write a check. What's the big deal about showing it to an election judge???? That's no obstacle. It's actually an encouragement if you're serious at all about having an honest election.

Well I didn't show my ID. :) She just asked if I had it with me and I said yep. She said that was good enough for her  :p
There was just one couple that came in when I was there, so I don't know how many actually turned out to vote. Quite a few the the residents here are from the US or overseas and don't have Canadian Citizenship.
