Canadian cattlemen file NAFTA complaints over U.S. border closure
Mar 16, 2005 (The Canadian Press via COMTEX) -- A Canadian cattle producers group has filed five NAFTA complaints over the continued closure of the United States border to live Canadian cattle imports.
Rick Paskal of the Canadian Cattlemen for Fair Trade said the border closure is a trade and investment dispute, not a question of health and safety.
Group members are exercising their right to claim damages when another NAFTA government takes actions that give an unfair advantage to its own investors in the North American Free Trade Area.
