With all the discussion on Health Care costs etc. I thought I'd look for some Canadian numbers and how they compare to US estimates of the costs for the next decade.
So using the CDN expenditure/person of $4400 multiplied by 46 million uninsured US citizens = $202 Billion/yr x 10 = $2 Trillion
In 1975, total Canadian health care costs consumed 7% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Canada's total health care expenditures as a percentage of GDP grew to an estimated 10.4% in 2005 (or $4411 CDN per person). 1 According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information, in 2005, on average, public health expenditures accounted for seven out of every 10 dollars spent on health care. The remaining three out of every 10 dollars came from private sources and covered the costs of supplementary services such as drugs, dental care and vision care.

Though President Obama has outlined nearly $950 billion in savings and revenue to offset the cost of a program tagged at about $1 trillion over the next decade, some say they fear the actual price tag could be much higher and question whether Obama's estimates of a coming windfall in government savings are accurate.
