I'm shortening and paraphrasing here, but basically he was saying that a couple of economists had put together a paper that proved that the price of oil will go down immediately if we make a commitment to drill, that just talking about drilling for oil would start the down trend before a bit even hit the soil. They went to the leading oil magazine wanting to get their article published, but were turned down because the editors thought the gist of the article was already a given among the industry! They said they wouldn't publish the paper because all their readers already knew it! Yet, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and all the other libs/socialsts don't get it! And these three idiots will be the leaders of our country?
It was a researcher for Newt's new book that found this paper and contacted the authors. The Energy Journal was the magazine that turned down the paper because the fact that increasing supply would result in lower prices was a well accepted fact...except among liberal socialist Democrats that will lie to the American people to destroy the oil industry. I'm sure this won't phase OT!!!!Sandhusker said:I've been trying to find a video or quote from a clip that I heard yesterday from Newt Gingrich. America is in a hole and it's getting deeper every day. We import 70% of our oil at a cost of $700 billion a year - four times the annual cost of the Iraq war.
I've been an oil man all my life, but this is one emergency we can't drill our way out of. But if we create a new renewable energy network, we can break our addiction to foreign oil.
supply and demand don't figure, world oil production 65 billion barrels a day and useage is only 68 billion  oh and Exxon only controls about 3% of that...fff said:The magazine probably refused the publish the papber because it was "voodo economics." Oil/gasoline prices today aren't based on supply. So drilling wouldn't do anything to affect them.

Frankie, do you pay attention to the world going on around you? Have you noticed what has happened to oil prices since serious talk of drilling started lately? Geeeeze, he has been proven right just the past few weeks! My God, what does it take to figure it out?
Frankie, "Why would you believe Newt? He lied to his wife, he lied to his constitutants."
Why would you believe Hillary after the whoppers she told? Double standard?

Yet, it's not a lie when Obama says all we have to do is inflate our tires to cause prices to go down, but adding new supply will have no effect????????????? T. Boone's big push is for natural gas...I wonder were that comes from????????????????????fff said:What a crock. There's not been a shortage of oil or gasoline, but prices have gone up, up up. Why would you believe Newt? He lied to his wife, he lied to his constitutants. You can find "experts" on both sides of the question and they give their best opinion. Doesn't mean they're right. I say drill away and so does Obama. But oilman T. Boone Pickens says

I think he's right. We need to do everything we can to encourage alternative energy development. Auto manufacturers have spent millions of dollars lobbying against higher gas mileage requirements. If they had spent that money actually improving the cars they produce, they might be in better shape than they are now that foreign car companies are eating their lunch.

John McCain appeared to make a serious U-turn Tuesday on the practice of keeping one’s tires inflated to save fuel.
McCain and his campaign have ruthlessly mocked Obama for telling cash-pinched gas consumers in Springfield, Missouri last week to keep their tires inflated to conserve gas.
The presumptive GOP nominee got a big laugh at a massive biker rally on Monday when he mockingly told the crowd, “My opponent doesn’t want to drill, he doesn’t want nuclear power, he wants you to inflate your tires.”
But on a conference call with Philadelphia voters Tuesday night, McCain offered support for the fuel-saving tip.
“And could I mention that Sen. Obama a couple of days ago said that we ought to all inflate our tires, and I don’t disagree with that,” he said on the call. “The American Automobile Association strongly recommends it. But I also don't think that that's a way to become energy independent."
The discrepancy between the amount of oil produced and/or imported and the amount consumed and/or exported is due to the omission of stock changes, refinery gains, and other complicating factors.fff said:jodywy said:supply and demand don't figure, world oil production 65 billion barrels a day and useage is only 68 billion  oh and Exxon only controls about 3% of that...fff said:The magazine probably refused the publish the papber because it was "voodo economics." Would you care to take a shot at explaining how, if we use 3 billion more barrels of oil a day than we produce, we haven't run out or even had shortages?

Don't you remember ff's first post? I thought you were interested in "civil discussion"? RobertMac never called YOU a liar, but apparently it's okay for you to call him one. Have you changed your mind? No longer interested in "civil discussion"? :lol:fff said:You're the liar.
