Happy Canuck Day-- the Maple Leafs will be flying today at the Opheim Mt. rodeo- as it sounded like their was already quite a crew of folks from the north there to welcome the wagon train last night...

I just ain't up to those all nighters anymore...

Happy Canada Day everyone. It's good to have a day like today to sit back and feel lucky and proud to be Canadian and live in this great nation.

I am proud, grateful and humbled to be Canadian. We have the best place in the world in which to live. I also believe that if our country loses touch with the Christian values that flavoured our foundation, we will deteriorate into directionless mediocrity.

"God keep our land glorious and free,
Oh Canada, we stand on guard for Thee . . ."

Happy Canada Day everyone!
Hope everyone is having a great long weekend! :)
I'm working all weekend, so no long weekend for me :( .
I missed the fireworks on the lake (where I work) last night.
Didn't feel like going back up there after working all day.

There were quite a crew of Canadians in Opheim yesterday and it looked like all were celebrating...Not too many Canuck contestants- but a lot of spectators from north of the 49th-I haven't seen that many come down for an Opheim doings in 10-15 years...Nice to see- as I got to visit with a few folks I haven't seen for awhile...
I do remember that the mutton bustin was won by a little fella from Killdeer SK- because he rode that old sheep around the arena twice, and when they told him he could get off he just lifted his leg over the front and steeped off like Ty Murray....
And the Grandkids leading the puppy around sold the last puppy too

If the Canadians in Opheim were any example of how well Canada Day got celebrated, I'd say it was a success.....
Now I have one day to heal up before I have to take in the Hinsdale 4th of July celebration which starts with the rodeo and streetdance on the 3rd...

I got to spend Canada day in Winnipeg at my neices wedding. Man the people were thick and the rain heavy.
I can't believe 140 years. I can remember 100 back in '67. I asked my mom if she remembered what she was doing 40 years ago that day. She didn't but I did. Someone threw a fire cracker under her horse as it came around the corner of Main Street Big Beaver during the pararde. He bucked all the way up the street and Mom rode him. It would have been a shame to dent the new "Black top" that has just been put down for the celabration. :D
