did any of you actually listen to what he said ???????

Honestly no. Honestly I wouldn't. I have already heard more than enough.

At this point I am very much looking forward to more Bush Busts. Investor confidence was good. Consumer confidence was good. Employment rates were higher. Debt was less.

Yep-- and after hearing him tell students to listen to their parents and teachers- and study hard even thru the difficulties and diversities they might face- I'm sure the sky will fall....
Don't want any of that subliminal socialist ideas to get out to kids- like its good for them to get an education- since so many after being educated end up being Democrats.... :p

people do not trust obama

Arlington, Texas certainly knows its priorities.

School officials in the town, home of the new $1 billion Dallas Cowboys football palace, declined to show President Obama's pro-education speech this week.

Later this month, however, the new stadium is hosting an event featuring special guest George W. Bush. The district will bus selected classes to bask in the glow of the former leader's remarks.

What he said in his speech was said by a celebrity 20 years ago. Was there a catchy slogan in obama's speech that will still be remembered 20 years from now?

You're the ones always b*tching about all the teachers, Principals, Professors and scientists being liberals, progressive, or Democrat-- so that must mean either all Repubs are too dumb to be educated or that when folks get educated they become Dems... :???:

To hell if it was said before, and you H comparing the president to Mr. T is insulting to anyone with an education......

This is a man that has been through what many of these less fortunate kids are facing and he is telling them to buckle down and pay attention in school ,that they might actually find something that they truly excel in, and will give them confidence and perhaps a future..

I am a Canadian and I heard his speech, it should be heard by every child and parent no matter the country.

The facebook bullshyte especially, do you all know what kids ,,your kids post on there and do you realize how many kids dream to become a celebrity at no matter the cost ..Just look at Kaylee(Caylee) Anthony's mom ,( I will not say that pathetic beotch's name) she probably murdered her own child to become famous / imfamous..

So if you do not want your children to have ethics and values and work hard to obtain goals that actually benefit us all, then by all means do not listen to THAT speech by your president. I do not agree with most of his policies but by GOD I do believe that our children being OUR future need an education and a path in the right direction..

A speech about ethics should be delivered by somebody who has ethics.

The speech was about working hard and staying in school and to remember that what you do know will come back to bite you in the ass in the future so mind your P's and Q's

I see no arrest records, he has been faithful to his wife ,,no mistress or whores..that have come out ..Sounds like a great dad and his girls love him and respect him.

What ethics,,he does have ethics and he worked hard to wear he is today..Thanks to the great men and women before him that have paved the way through prejudice and this superiority that I have money so am better than you..

I agree HD,it is time somebody stood up for kids and not just certain ones but every child..Some parents do nothing to inspired thier child...He never said anything that a child should not hear...The message to building the foundation for ones self through hard work and studing. All to be the best one can be and build thier country better, this message is deffinatly one all kids should here....I just do not get why.when some one does something right or good , they get flake just because of what side of the fence they are on....

Actually, I think we have some pretty good teachers and administrators around here that tend to be conservative. The few that gravitate towards socialism need to be watched carefully, however. Many that worshipped Obama the Candidate are probably just as disappointed as everyone else.

I didn't compare the 2, I compared the message.

Celebrities such as Mr T. or whomever can carry just as much weight with the kids as a President, especially the younger ones.

They watch tv without being coerced into it, by any type of authority figure, it's a natural medium to relay an important message.

Unfortunately it can also be used to relay a negative message.

I linked to a story about Elmo explaining financial hardship to children. I think that can be just as or more effective as having any adult explain it to them.
