"Carbon Tax Is Socialism"

Australia’s newly elected prime minister pulled no punches when giving his thoughts on the country’s carbon tax, which he says must be abolished as quickly as possible.

“The carbon tax is bad for the economy and it doesn’t do any good for the environment,” Abbott told The Washington Post. “Despite a carbon tax of $37 a ton by 2020, Australia’s domestic emissions were going up, not down. The carbon tax was basically socialism masquerading as environmentalism, and that’s why it’s going to get abolished.”

“If the Labor Party wants to give the people of Australia a Christmas present, they will vote to abolish the carbon tax. It was damaging the economy without helping the environment. It was a stupid tax. A misconceived tax,” Abbott added

Of course it's socialism, that's why so many Democrats favor such a tax. May any RINO that follows suit be defeated and embarrassed.

It is not a "cheap" tax..

for instance.. my wife just had to fly home as her Dad went into the Hospital..

the airlines not wanting to take the heat for the high cost of tickets breaks out a few charges just to show you where the money is going...

JFK has an airport charge of about $100

there is a TSA charge and a fuel surcharge.. (taxes)

on the other side of the pond at Glasgow there are similar airport charges.. but a carbon tax of about $200 is slapped on the ticket depending on the time of year...

if you want to look at it another way Europe is charging each visitor a 20% tax for nothing .....

and it will soon climb again,..
UK carbon tax will balloon under current proposals

According to recent research, the UK's carbon tax is set to almost double again in its third year of implementation after prices within the EU emissions trading system plummeted to an all-time low.

“UK power producers may be exposed to much higher carbon costs should the European Commission be successful in its plan to increase permit prices. In essence, the tax raises the cost of fossil-fueled power production across the country, ahead of costs in neighboring countries. While the government has promised to alleviate higher costs faced by heavy industry, no steps have been made to reduce the burden on domestic consumers. In its third year, the tax may account for about 10 – 15% of the wholesale cost

While the UK claims to be doing everything it can to attract low-carbon energy production, the spiraling cost of this tax may prompt a call to ditch it or change it.”

Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden said crews from his department and from the Trent Volunteer Fire Department were sent to the location just south of Interstate 20 and east of Lake Sweetwater at 10 a.m.

“There was no need for us to go up in the turbine so we didn’t,” Madden said. “We stayed well enough away and controlled the grass fires from the falling embers and fiberglass.”

The wind farm is owned by GE Power, Madden said.
