How are your calves doing since your breakout? Man what a bummer. I shouldn't say anything but my 2 bunches that I weaned went great. I was complaining to a game warden once about our elk problems and he said you don't know what problems are until you have a mountain lion problem. Hope you get your calves back to normal. Maybe you could borrow Kosmo Kid's new bloodhound and do some trackin'.
Hey, glad you had great luck with weaning! As far as anything to do with GFP..... :???: .......we had Antelope destroying a couple wheat fields one winter. They were going to take care of it......   . Pathetic attempt, one little saggy wire along one side of the fields with a 6v charger.....all worthless. Besides, they're probably too busy transporting captured Cougars and Wild Turkey to this area to do anything helpful. :???:
These calves had all been weaned (six different bunches), some since late August, and turned in together. They were real calm before this, and are settling down pretty good now. I think leaving a tractor idle all night with them is stopping another episode, but they were milling around about 1:00AM last night. Still, running a tractor every night isn't really a very good long term solution, and we put off getting them sorted, just didn't want to stress them any more at all. Today was the first day we didn't treat any for sickness.....just one lame one. We've used alot of Nuflor and generic Banamine since that happened.
Anyway, just grateful to those friends/neighbors that helped us out when all hell broke loose, day and night, and helping fence, and for flying that blue airplane around locating critters.
I don't know howcome no calves got hit up on the hiway during that fog. Did you hear about those 9 (?) calves that got ran and hit up on I90 around New Underwood a few days ago? That rancher suspects a Mountain Lion. AP called them young cows.....
