Debbie wants to know what to use to keep cats from using her garden for a litter box. Lethal means have already been discussed! :D

Keep it wet and the ground packed.

Also, leave a place where the soil is loose and maybe some loose grass clippings that the cat can use.

I put an electric fence around my yard at one time when there were a lot of dogs running around.

Had an old mother cat that loved to take after the dogs and run them into the electric fence. The dogs yelped and thought that cat had really got them. The cat just lowered her tail, went under the fence, and tail back up and went on. Cats don't worry about electric fences, just know how to avoid them. It sure got a lot of dogs, one went through the fence, ran to the end and hit again, and ran a block and a half south, turned east and still running. Never saw it again.

A sprinkler with an infrared sensor. As soon as a cat crossed the sensor, it would release a three second water blast. They had these a few years back. My previous dog loved playing with it.
