Cattle mutilation

Redranch said:
The book Oldtimer is talking about is called Mystery Stalks the Prairie by Roberta Donovan and Keith Wolverton. I found a mutilation once and had Keith and other deputy's out to investigate in the early 70s. Was a 2 year old Angus bull, had no blood, ear was cut off and a strip of hide gone. The ear had dirt embedded in it but was facing up and not under his head. Had a vet skin it and found no puncher wounds. So how was this done to a 1600 pound bull. I went out and bought the book, very good reading. Probably can google it.

Yep-- thats the book...Dick Donovan must have been Robertas husband... I worked with him on several coroner cases many a year back- along with Keith...I never read it- but in one of their presentations saw a bunch of the pictures they had...Great set of pictures and slides......
One of the top forensic pathologists in the western part of the US- especially on knife wounds, lived in Great Falls- Dr. Pfaff- and he helped them with some of the studies on samples and specimens they collected....
Thanks Redranch - I was kicking myself in the rear for not being able to remember their names
